Can anyone recommend a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum?

I’m 34 and have normal skin, not prone to breakouts or anything unusual. Five years of SAHMotherhood has taken its toll and my skin is looking a lot older all of a sudden, particularly with wrinkles under my eyes.
I’ve been using a vit. C serum and cream, and this does seem to have brightened my skin a bit, but I’ve read good things about hyaluronic acid.
Would a serum with both of those in be effective to help brighten and tighten a bit? And can anyone recommend a good one? The choice is absolutely huge and I’m out of my depth!
Are there better serum/treatments I should be looking at?!

I've signed up with Dermatica who look at photos and prescribe their creams. These depend on your needs, but strengthen overtime.

It's stopped all of my 'trial and error', wasted money purchasing. I use a cheap cleanser, moisturiser and sun cream only.

Following with interest! Another sahm here! My eye wrinkles have got so bad in the last year or so! Must be an occupational hazard!

MindyStClaire · 25/04/2021 15:48

I tried the Vichy serum and liked it (37 year old just finishing second maternity leave and feeling similar!) but I'm no skincare expert.

Try watching Nadine Baggott. She’s done YouTube videos on budget recommendations of both.

I use Superdrug Vitamin C serum. It’s in an orange bottle with a black dropper lid and I think is about £5 and Hado Labo Hyaluronic. Think that’s somewhere between £15 and £20 in a red bottle from either Superdrug or Amazon.

Poppy Austin Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Amazon.

Vichy liftactiv is fab.

Ineedideas · 25/04/2021 17:40

Thanks so much all....Two votes for Vichy! @MindyStClaire is the liftactiv the one you’re using too?

Thanks for all the recommendations - has anyone noticed the combo of these two ingredients improving wrinkles, or do they mostly just moisturise and brighten? I guess more moisture will plump out the wrinkles a bit?!

@DancingCoyote thanks, I’ve just watched a couple of Nadine Baggot videos - never heard of them before and they’re great! I felt like I should have been making notes! 😂

Have a look at Deciem .. The Ordinary range .. ethical , great results and amazing prices
The Vit C stinks though 🤣😩 really stinks

Ineedideas · 25/04/2021 20:31

Nadine Baggot recommended The Ordinary in the vid I watched, it’s amazingly low priced - does it really work well for that price though? Oh yuk it stinks?! Why would they make it smelly?!!

@Ineedideas I did make notes Grin completely overhauled my skincare routine during the first lockdown based on her advice. Skin is much improved. And products I’m now using cost less than a third of what I was using before!

Apileofballyhoo · 25/04/2021 20:41

Beware of cheaper vitamin C, I would have thought I could put anything on my face but after using the ordinary vit C my skin seems permanently sensitised.

The most important thing to prevent aging is daily SPF, preferably 50, and plenty of it. Summer and winter and indoors too. A 50ml tube shouldn't last more than a month if you're doing your neck too, so get one you can afford to use enough of.

The Vichy C is a good shout.

mycatchichi · 25/04/2021 20:43

Avant do some lovely stuff

jannyapple · 25/04/2021 20:45

@Ineedideas apparently all Vit C products should have a slightly unpleasant smell - it's the perfume bits they add to stuff to make it more palatable
I think The Ordinary .. is extraordinarily good
Really beneficial , not come across anything that didn't suit me so far , just wish it didn't all sound so complicated
