Teenage boys and joggers - Can they ever look ok?

DS has SN. He has absolutely no interest in shopping and clothes. He can't do buckles and regularly sits for prolonged periods in his wheelchair.

He loved lockdown year as he swapped his expensive uncomfortable school trousers for his £5 primark joggers for day to day wear. This has been a delight for him and I'm now not sure he will go back...

I'd like something a little smarter

I used to get soft denim jogger jeans but I haven't seen many about (mens s-m) and the only pair I did find are too big on the waist, too tight on the leg and marginally too short on the leg (he has grown into a beanpole).so....

Do joggers ever look ok/smartish? I have found a pair of slightly more fashioned shaped joggers I think maybe look better. I just wonder if I'm deluding myself!!

Can joggers every look a bit smarter on teenage boys?

OP - I know where you are coming from!

Uniqlo make some ultra stretch slim fit trousers, you might find these ok as they have stretch in them, I have also found that some "walking" type trousers from places like Cragghoppers are comfy enough for him, and as long as I buy them in a plain neutral colour like navy or stone then they also look smarter (imo) than joggers. Primark chinos are also as good on him as any others that I have found.

I think it is ok to encourage kids to have some smarter but still comfy clothes for outside the home. "Home clothes" is a thing in many cultures, but you would not wear your home clothes out!

Every single boy from the age of 10 wears joggers - it’s not like he’s going to look any different from any other boy if he wears joggers?

Just to add the alternative point of view - no they don't! My DS1 never wore joggers (except for school sport) and was very much a jeans/chinos sort of boy.

DS2 wore them sometimes, but that was because he had more active hobbies.

Not sure if this has already been suggested OP, but also try ASOS as I know they do the longer length in some of their joggers, which was a godsend for 6ft 1 DS2!

My 10 year old wears the Next slim fit joggers and also Next soft denim joggers which I think look pretty smart.

My 11 year old would live in joggers if he could and I totally get where you're coming from with wanting him to sometimes look a bit smarter, OP. We also love the Next pull on jeans/denim joggers and I think they look quite a bit smarter. It's a pain that it's been virtually impossible for ages to get anything other than skinny jeans for boys. Now that jeans fashions are changing, I'm hoping for much baggier cuts for boys.

My 16 year old autistic ds only wears joggers because he can not wear anything with buttons. I buy the ones from m and s linked above, also in the summer h and m do elastic waist linen joggers/ trousers which are very useful, especially because his Sen transport gets very hot.
