To comb or not to comb..?

Hi,
I have long hair (up to my bra strap), its the longest I have had it. When I brush it, it goes so frizzy, so thats a no no. How often do you comb your long hair. It takes ages!

What do you mean bra strap? The things that go over your shoulders? That's nor long.

Or do you mean 'strap' as in the thing that goes round your ribs? Either way, every day, twice a day, whatever it requires.

Maybe use some conditioner and anti frizzserum and a tangle teeze rather than bristle brush. I can't imagine not brushing/combing less regularly without it looking a complete mess.

Also it takes about ten seconds

Only when it's wet. Minimises the frizz. I just gently work out any lugs with my fingers. I wear it wavy/curly, though.

I’m guessing you have really thick hair OP? Otherwise can’t see why it would take long at all?

Best tip I ever read for smooth hair was to comb the conditioner through whilst washing your hair.

Don't brush it often. I finger brush now and then. It's more gentle. I only ever really brush on hair washing days, which is about once every 5 days!

Changing your brush to a natural bristle one can help.

Products also help. I use Dry Remedy shampoo and condition by Aveda and Philip Kingsley extreme elasticizer (I leave t on for many hours) and that does relax my hair. I also like the loreal 8 second miracle water but I don't get as good results (typing this out made me think I might try adding it to my elasticizer regime!) I find hair oils tend to just sit on my hair rather than helping to keep it defrizzed. But there are so many products out there for this an I spent loads in the search for my best result.

Comb with conditioner on then only comb when damp .

If really necessary I use a tangle teaser or wet brush

Is it straight?

My DD’s is wavy/curly so can’t be dry brushed but it gets tangled. In the mornings I spray with watered down leave in conditioner (one for curly hair) and brush with a detangling brush (then spray a bit more and scrunch the curls)

I only comb my hair when its laden with conditioner in the shower, and only very gently, mostly its finger brushing.

Is your hair curly or wavy? Mine was wavy when it was really long, like down to the bend of my elbow when I was younger. Its now just about my shoulder, an inch below my jaw and really curly. I use the curly hair method and its helped me loads. My hair tend to frizz when I brush it.

I use a wooden comb and that helps. I have thick long hair and I’m going to get a boar bristle brush. Very excited, I’ll let you know if it keeps my hair lustrous and smooth 😃

Thanks everyone, my hair is down to my bra strap across my back. For me that is long. I will definitely try to comb whilst conditioner laden. That will be more gentle.
Off to look up the curly hair method as my hair is getting curlier as I age. Has anyone else found this? It was poker straight naturally when I was younger.
