Flattering bikini for pear shape

Can anyone recommend one that accentuates the boobs and provides generous coverage for a large bottom?

For a pear I wouldn't recommend larger bottoms that provide loads of coverage, a skimpier pair have the optical illusion of making your lower half look smaller as the block of fabric is smaller. Big bikini bottoms only draw the eye, if the entirety of your hips/bum are covered there is no disguising the size or balancing out.

Halter necks generally enhance boobs by lifting and bringing together.

High leg is good I've found, but the key for me is finding something that fits well but isn't tight (don't want the muffin top squished!) That being said, buying bikinis where you can buy a separate top and bottom is good so I can get a larger size on the bottom. Honestly I look better in high leg swimsuits than bikinis. Probably not much help to you but the belted swimsuit from monsoon I've found really flattering. Bought the black one last year and might get the red one too!

I think it very much depends on your exact figure and what you want to conceal. I am a pear shape and I bought a lovely bikini last year from Next. It has a 50s vibe and has shorts rather than briefs. For me, this works better as I really do want to cover that entire area. I chose a dark colour for the shorts. As a pear shape, I also go for a padded bra style bikini top in order to make my top half look slightly bigger.

I agree with @SummaLuvin - briefer pants at the back can actually slim you down. Be prepared to try on a million sperates, get very grumpy with it but tou will find the holy grail in the end.

Make sure, it’s one you can do up and undo easily without summoning half the beach or pool to assist you and avoid plastic clasps, they go brittle and snap in the heat.

If you have a slim upper half and small boobs (like me!) I like a sporty more crop-top type bikini top like the attached. This doesn't accentuate the boobs as such but makes the most of their petite-ness. They are also much more comfortable than the padded-wired monstrosities I used to go for, and dry about ten times quicker! For bottoms I think a very simple plain bikini brief is best. As pp says, excess fabric can make you look bigger, and the most important thing is that they fit well so you don't get squidged bulgy hips.

I’m pear shaped but slim and agree that counter intuitively the smaller the bottoms the better you will look. Larger bottoms just make me look huge and draw attention the the part I want to ignore!

CardiCorgi · 20/04/2021 07:43

I agree with all of the prior posters, having tried shorts plus skinny top it didn’t do my shape any favours.
A Boden triangle bikini was surprisingly flattering (can buy their tops and bottoms separately) and Esprit had a good mix and match selection. Can you get away with a strapless bandeau top or do you need more support?

SapphosRock · 20/04/2021 10:46

Ooh this is really interesting, I never thought that skimpy bottoms would be more flattering. For clothes I am a size 10 on top and 12/14 bottom but I often get a size 16 bikini bottom to get more coverage but they often look a big baggy.

Thank you for the recommendations Smile

OP, unlike a lot of clothes, all swimwear will apoear slightly too tight on first try on. It will stretch. A size 16 on you, if you are size 10, is likely to look like a baggy nappy when wet. Too much fabric! Maybe try looking for a Brazilian cut on the bum.
