Suddenly my foundation had started to go patchy. In my 50's, is it my age, do I need to up my skincare? Suggestions welcomed.

Are you wearing a long-lasting foundation?
I am your age and the much-loved on here Primark one is patchy on me.

It's Double wear, so yes. I bought the Primark one a while a go but have only used it once ages ago( forgot I had it but can't remember if it went patchy) and it's smells exactly like the Estee Lauder one!

You need to exfoliate, use a mild glycolic lotion and moisturise at least 10 min before you apply your foundation. Also, apply a bit of foundation first, then use more where you need or. I use finders because that gives me most control, the warmth of my fingers lets me blend well, and I use the least amount of foundation I can get away with.

I use it with tinted moisturiser as I am trying to use up both products.

I've started using a beauty blender and get much much better results

Straight after using a light moisturiser I mix Double Wear with a bit of Clarins SOS primer (the colourless one) and apply with round brush dabbing/stippling it on with the ends of the bristles. I can build up where it is most needed but it is light enough not to clog into the skin. I was shown this by a make-up artist and am really happy with the result.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but with all the sllicone and other ingredients I don't find double wear fit for everyday use, especially not for mature skin. I'd try a lighter foundation, and a bit of extra moisture in the skincare routine (eg hyaluronic acid)
