Surely done before, wfh (zoom) outfits one level smarter than hoodies!

New job looks to be smarter than old job. I have been squinting at the video of the team meeting. I’ve been wearing sweatshirts and hoodies for a year where they were mostly in dark patterned shirts.
I’ve looked for jersey shirts online and found not much. I still want something that’s quite comfortable, so not an actual cotton shirt. I don’t care about the bottom half so just need top ideas.

What can I wear that isn’t a sweatshirt? I like patterned things and slightly vintage/boho sort of style.

Mango has some nice shirts.

BikeRunSki · 18/04/2021 18:46

Boden, Kettlewell Colours and Woolovers all have jersey shirts at the moment.

MovinOnUp · 18/04/2021 19:22

I got a sweatshirt with a white frilled collar, It looks smart on screen.
I have joggers on the bottom half right enough 😊

If you want jersey cotton and you like patterns and boho feel is this sort of thing from Seasalt worth a look?

Cowbells · 18/04/2021 19:25

Or this peasant blouse from Cotton Traders?

Bonprix

embroidered tunic from White Stuff reduced to £55 from £75.

How about an unstructured blazer/jacket? Sainsbury's TU have quite a few jersey blazers in nice colours. I have a couple of jersey shirts from WS which I wear with a blazer when I want to be a bit smarter for a Zoom meeting.

A light kimono style jacket would work too just to pop on over a t shirt?

CMOTDibbler · 18/04/2021 21:01

Stick a scarf on over your sweatshirt. You can't really tell fabric type on video. I also have some fleece blazers from Lands End which are soft and cozy but look really smart on camera

Thanks everyone. I’ve been hearing some mutterings that we may only ever be going back two days a week so I think I’m going to move to a slightly smarter every day look anyway. And I’m bored with hoodies
Lots of ideas and places that I hadn’t thought about.
Thanks!

Sainsburys is surprisingly good for casualish workwear

OllyBJolly · 19/04/2021 20:49

I’ve bought an assortment of dresses/tops from Weird Fish. Dead comfy, wash well, look perfectly acceptable.

Just can’t wear green or blue with my green screen backgrounds...

shewhomustbeEbayed · 02/05/2021 18:49

Joe Brown’s tunics are funky and cheap on ebay.

Oh such a shame that this post is 2 weeks old.
I looked at some of the suggestions and links for lovely tops, there are often only teeny tiny sizes left if not sold out by now on 2nd May. 😫

bellocchild · 02/05/2021 19:06

Landsend do long and short-sleeved jersey polo shirts. Good quality although not particularly cheap.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 02/05/2021 22:10

FatFace's popover tops come in loads of different colours and prints (they bring out new ones quite regularly), are more comfortable than a proper shirt and don't have the risk of gapiness at the front, and are (a bit) easier to iron and good IMO for smart-casual work - from what you've described about your tastes I think they might be right up your street.

White Stuff also sometimes do soft jersey-type shirts in nice colours and prints, which again I think you might like.

I'm never quite so sure what to wear for smart-casual when it's cold though! It's hard to find something that keeps you really warm, still looks good and moderately smart, and is comfy...I just end up in rather boring cardis.
