Where to start with Olaplex

I have long curly hair and I keep reading good things about Olaplex. I'm about to put in an order on LookFantastic and tempted to add some to my order but not sure what I need or where to start.

What products would you recommend?

Like I say, my hair is curly and has a tendency to look dry and sometimes frizzy so I'd love something to give it some moisture and shine.

And is it worth the money?

Olaplex is for restoring the bonds in the hair damaged by bleaching.

Following, I am deciding between Olaplex and elasticizer.

I've got a starter kit for my birthday and I quite like it. I've been using it weekly. My hair does definitely feel better for it, though mine is fine, wavy and very frizz prone.

It can be a little bit of a mission at first as the No3 has to sit on your hair for 30 minutes, but I tend to make an evening of it and have a bath too.

It’s great for keeping blonde hair looking good - I use 3

Thank you.

My hair isn't bleached or coloured and I don't use heat too often but it feels like it needs some TLC.

Op, it doesn't really sound like it's Olaplex that you need tbh. It's specifically for damaged hair - usually over processed due to bleach and or heat damage.

If your hair is naturally curly, it will need extra moisture, so maybe worth investing in a really luxurious deep conditioning treatment and leave it on for a couple of hours, once or twice a week.

Olaplex isn't a conditioner, although it has conditioners in it's range. Olaplex as a technology is bond repair.

I've not gotten on with olaplex and mine is bleached. I've recently got the new redken acid shampoo, conditioner and treatment and so far so good, doesn't make my hair feel weighed down like olaplex

I use Olaplex number 3 at home. I've got curly hair and it's damaged through bleaching, I have noticed a remarkable difference but remember it's not supposed to make your hair soft like a deep conditioner. I also recommend curl smith products for curly hair, they've got some really good products from them although they are not cheap.

My hair isn't bleached but I'm a complete Olaplex convert. You're supposed to have the salon treatment first or apparently the at home stuff won't be as effective - or of course this could be marketing bollocks. However I do the lot and I really notice the difference if I don't. I have the salon treatment, I use no3 and the shampoo and conditioner at home and I'm about to get 6 and 7 too.

I stopped using it last summer for a couple of months for various reasons and it was a bad idea - after one wash back on the Olaplex I had completely different and mch better hair.

Thanks all. That's really useful.

While I'm quite evangelial about it I do know there are others who find it makes no difference to them.

SharpLily · 18/04/2021 12:30

Evangelical!

custardbear · 18/04/2021 12:34

I'd never heard of this til today

I have my hair highlighted and find it used to be quite straight but now, I'm older and been dying my hair about 12 years, it's much frizzier and I look like sideshow Bob if I don't straighten it
Will Opalex save me?
