Olaplex - £25 a squirt at hairdressers every 6 weeks - other options?

I have my roots done every 6 weeks - prices have been hiked post COVID (understandably) - but the £25 for Olapex seems OTT. Is there an equivalent option to do at home - or does it have to go on immediately when coloured (ie at the salon).

@pigeon65

Buy it on Amazon! So cheap.

Apparently a lot of the ones sold on Amazon are fake. If you get it for home buy it from an authorized retailer. Not worth a few £ to risk destroying your hair.

I have bleach highlights & do without the extra cost of Olaplex.
I've been using Nexxus Keraphix shampoo & conditioner (£9 - £14 a bottle in Boots).
My hair is now in really good condition except for the ends which need a trim.

Color Wow Dreamcoat.

This stuff is better than Olaplex on my hair by a mile.

Started using this yesterday. Totally wowed by it so far.

Was impressed with the olaplex 0+3 treatment when I first used it but when I used it on newly coloured hair it pulled most of the colour out. Angry

I like the Dreamcoat, I had some in an M&S calendar - but its nothing like olaplex at all.

I bought Olaplex 0 and 3 from Feelunique. Much more than one application for £26.

Depends what you’re using olaplex for. Doesn’t sound like the OP’s hair gets bleached so not clear what it’s trying to fix.

Dream coat is the only product I've ever used that has really surprised me at how good it is and what a difference it really makes

I find it lasts 2 or 3 washes and then I spray again.

The one for curly hair though I find pretty average.

I use olaplex on my bleached hair. It is so expensive and I'm honestly not totally convinced it's worth it... I'm giving up the bleach and going back to my natural mousy gingery blonde Grin. Probably have a few greys now too, but I'm honestly sick of the bleaching and then fixing my hair because the bleach has ruined it cycle.

Mine is the number 3 I think, which is £30ish for a small bottle.

its not a conditioner so hair wont feel any different if you use it, it works on hair bonds / molecules etc.

The original 1,2 & 3 version are the same bond builders, but more diluted the higher the number.

Everything after this is for take home use and again, a diluted variation.

Number 1 is only meant for salons, but for the add on price it’s a piss take being honest.

Number 1 can be used in bleach, tints or a stand-alone treatment (so no chemical processing needed to do it )

@LockdownLard I tried the garnier one you recommended and my hair feels so much better. Thank you so much

The salon treatment is completely different from the home stuff though

Salon is #1 & #2 and lasts a few washes

The home treatments are #3 upwards and not as potent as the salon treatment. I have had the salon treatment various times and can assure you there’s a difference

1,2.3 don’t last any washes. The bond rebuilding only happens when the hair is wet. Once you’ve washed it out that’s it.

The home ranges compliment the salon processes, without the first steps I personally think any of of the other products are a bit of a waste and they just play on a wider market.
