How do you apply spf over makeup?

You know how you're meant to reapply later in the day? How do you do that if you wear make up? Is it possible to apply spf afterwards in any way without ruining make up?

I have a no7 factor 50 tinted moisturiser. I just top up and use concealer where I need more coverage.

I was literally looking into this yesterday, as they say if you apply SPF on at 9 in the morning you it will be rendered ineffective by 11 and you wont be protected when the sun is at its strongest in the day Easter Shock. To take off all your makeup is unrealistic isnt it ? I came across powder SPF’s which you can put iver everything. They are not a substitute for wearing a proper layer underneath but seem to be a good solution for “topping up”.

Ooh did you get one? If so will you share link? That sounds like a great solution

This is a massive issue of mine!
Have no solution so following this

I saw a feature on This Morning and she had a spray one that she sprayed over her makeup. Although can’t remember the name of it, or how effective it would be over the top! But Holly sprayed some on and it didn’t spoil her makeup

LRP makes a spray mist with 50spf that is meant for topping up.

whitershadeofpale · 16/04/2021 08:55

I use the LRP spray one for top ups too.

Bananarama3star · 16/04/2021 09:04

I've just brought the LRP spray one. I haven't used it yet but hoping this will solve the problem. I've been trying to work out a solution for years!

Pinktruffle · 16/04/2021 11:04

Use a spray. Body shop do one, if you are feeling a bit more spendy, Kate Somerville also do one.

Fluffbutt · 16/04/2021 14:01

Ultrasun also do an spf for face that you apply and it lasts all day. Non greasy too.

ladsholiday · 16/04/2021 14:12

Spray ones. LRP and garnier make specific ones for over make up

OlivePenderghast · 16/04/2021 14:14

I use the Amber Solaire one to top up.

KatyS36 · 16/04/2021 15:39

I love the lrp one. Works fab over make up

SaintReatham · 16/04/2021 15:42

Another Ultrasun once-a-day user. You have to apply to bare skin and leave it to sink in for a few minutes, so it's a bit of a faff but at least that's it.

RockaLock · 16/04/2021 15:59

I also always use Ultrasun.

I know some people say it still needs to be applied more than once a day, but I figure if it seems to last all day on me wandering around Disneyland Florida in blazing sunshine (still ghostly white by the end of the holiday) then it's probably OK all day in the UK.

Lamentations · 16/04/2021 16:50

I've got the Kate Somerville one. It's not cheap but is actually quite a big can so not bad at cost per use.
