Advice please on lace fronted wigs

Hoping you lovely ladies of MN can offer me.some advice around lace fronted synthetic wigs.

I'm about to start chemo.and will.most certainly lose my hair, as such I've brought a number.ber of synthetic wigs to cover my baldness.

Most are lace fronted which need to be glued down.

My question is, how long are they supposed to stay on for and how do you maintain them/keep them looking good.

Also can/do you sleep in them?

Hoping this gets enough traffic here

Definitely don't sleep in them as it will make the wig knot and fray and reduce its life considerably. A friend who underwent chemo, slept in a bamboo beanie as she found her head got cold.

Wigs, even good quality/expensive, don't last anywhere near as long as you might hope for. Ideally, have 2/3 on the go so you can rotate them. This makes them last longer and you don't need to wash as frequently.

Always use a wide tooth comb and comb the ends frequently throughout the day to keep the ends free and also comb all the way through when you take it off at night.

Shorter wigs will usually last longer as they don't rub against your clothes and cause friction. Something like Ignite by Jon Renau is a really popular wig because it lasts a long time due to its short length at the nape, but you have length at the front.

If you are wearing one wig all day every day, it may last 6 months, which isn't long when you think how much they cost. Some show wear much sooner than that.

I hot a chip wig stand from EBAY to maintain the shape and would wash every couple of days I'm baby shampoo.

Definitely don't sleep in them. They did get uncomfortable when my hair started growing back. At home I wore scarves instead of the wig.

I only had one wig and it lasted throughout chemo and until my hair started coming back.

Good luck.

I’ve worn wigs off and on for most of my adult life (alopecia), have never glued a wig on. I literally stick on my head and go. Be aware that while lace fronts and monofilament parting are most realistic they can feel rougher if your scalp is sensitive. Fully hand tied is most comfortable, realistic and expensive but felt front is quite comfy and cheap but less realistic.
