What are your eye make-up remover recommendations? No matter what I use I can never seem to get all my mascara off and end up looking like a panda and with sore eye lids.

Clinique is fab, I never have a problem with it

Bluestocking · 12/11/2007 08:58

The Clarins one is very nice.

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 12/11/2007 09:11

Thanks girls! Any cheaper recommendations?

The virgin v one is great but saying that I have run out at the moment and am finding those cleansing wipes fine for the lot.

have used baby oil for years , it gets waterproof mascara off easily too

MrsBadger · 12/11/2007 13:46

not cheap though, sorry

ScottishMummy · 12/11/2007 13:51

vaseline - slather it on, leave for a few seconds, gently rub off. dissolves even industrial strength waterproof mascara

newgirl · 12/11/2007 14:01

the best one in the whole wide world is body shop gentle one - it is like water so no oil or residue - but it dissolves all eye make up including waterproof mascara - i buy it three bottles at a time - £6.50 I think, in a white and green bottle

I'm currently using Waitrose own brand, which was recommended by a friend. It's lovely - really light and non-stingy and very cheap. Prior to that I tried Clinique but it really stung.

olive oil on a cotton wool pad, then rinse off with warm water, can't get much cheaper or more natural than that ;)

LoveAngelGabriel · 12/11/2007 23:10

Johnson's baby oil!

Although I do like Aveda's eye make-up remover, and Boots own brand fragrance-free make-up remover (in a blue bottle)

carol3 · 12/11/2007 23:12

baby oil again, best thing ever!

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2007 08:03

webchick - o good tip i will try the extra virgin olive oil tonight - and report back

hoppybird · 13/11/2007 17:21

I've used olive oil in an emergency, and it's good, although I find extra virgin olive oil to be not as good as plain olive oil, IMHO, although both 'cloud up' my eyes a bit.

When not raiding the kitchen, I use Beauty and the Bees Honey and Coconut cleanser, which is a brilliant natural product, though quite expensive. It doesn't cloud up your eyes, leaves your skin really soft and contains no SLS, alcohol or petrochemicals. You can get it here

sparklyjen · 13/11/2007 17:23

I like boots fragrance free eye make-up remover pads (they come in a little blue tub), they're quite oily but they're good at removing the lashings of waterproof mascara I use and cheap too!
