Has anyone had surgery for ptosis?

I wasn’t sure whether to put this in Health or S&B but I’ve seen other threads on procedures in here so I hope that’s ok. Mine would be more for cosmetic reasons than to help my sight. Has anyone had this done and was it worth it?

Yes, I had a bit of a droopy eye-lid (beastly cat had savaged me and clawed my eye-lid badly, then about 10 years later the lid had a developed a pronounced droop). It wasn't too bad but enough to warrant surgery, passed the NHS criteria for vision loss, which didn't bother me, I just didn't think the droop was particularly attractive! I went private as I had health insurance.
The operation was a eye-opening - literally. I was awake and saw the surgeon cut through my eye-lid. It was all stitched up. I had to wear a patch for a day or two. It healed nicely no obvious scar (the beastly cat attack didn't scar either).
So yes worth it, think it cost £2500 or £3000.
Is it one eye or both with you?

Poor you, that sounds painful! That’s good to hear neither scarred though. For me it’s one eye, I’ve had it since birth.

The cat attack was a bit painful, of course lucky that it wasn't the actual eye. The surgery was fine, it's pretty minor after all, just make sure you rest as advised.
I remember the vision check was the crucial part. The NHS wont fund cosmetic surgery so you have to show that you have a certain loss of vision. If I recall correctly this check was done at the local NHS eye hospital after referral by the GP. At that stage as I had health insurance I went down the private route. It was the same consultant/surgeon I saw on both occasions.
After writing my reply above I looked at my eyes and my other eye is more droopy than the one that's been fixed - I guess that's age - I don't care!
The incision is along the nature crease of the eyelid.
Good luck if you choose to go for it.

Thank you. I might have to go private as I don’t think it does affect my vision that much, or that I’m aware of.
