A question for long haired ladies!

How do you dry your hair?!

My hair is down to my lower back, I hate drying it so I tend to shove it up in a bun wet and have done with it. Can anyone recommend any easy techniques or tools? Have any of you used those hair drying brushes, are they worth the hype?
Or just feel free to tell me to stop being lazy and dry it like a normal person 🤣

I try to air dry it for as long as I can, but on work days that isn’t very long.

Then tip my head upside down and rough dry it until about 90% dry with normal hairdryer.

Then run over it with a Revlon 1-Step. If I’ve got time, I separate neatly into smaller sections and give myself a nice, bouncy look. More usually, I go over it in bigger sections just to smooth it out a bit and curl under the ends.

Doesn’t take long. Maybe 10 mins of hairdryer/Revlon thingie on a work morning, 20 mins if I want to make more an effort.
I’m very low maintenance and get bored of faffing with my hair!

Thanks to lockdown my hair is now nearly waist length, naturally curly & whilst my actual hair is quite thin I have lots of it. It tends to look its best if I leave it alone which is fortunate as I'm quite lazy Grin I either wash at night & French plait it , its mostly dry by morning & gives me nice smooth wavy type curls. Or I wash in the morning put some product in & leave it. By the time I get to work (an hours drive) its mostly dry. I rarely use a hairdryer unless I'm straightening it or going on a night out (pre covid) as its naturally dry & I don't want to damage it too much. I have one of the revlon brushes but not got round to trying it out yet.

My hair sounds like yours, fine and straight. It's not as long (I'm mid back). My husband treated me to a dyson hairdryer for Christmas and I love it. It's so light and easy to use and my hair dries in no time!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 11/04/2021 11:19

Desperate to try one of those Revlon brushes now!! Wouldn't mind a bit of volume as my hair is naturally quite flat once it's dried! X

I found the revlon one step a complete waste of money. It takes forever to dry my hair and never seems to actually properly get it dry at the roots. It also fried my hair and some of the front bits snapped off.

I can’t air dry as it would still be wet the next day!

But I’ve got a 2400w babyliss hair dryer that can rough dry my hair in 10 mins and I can do a nice smooth blow dry with it in 20 mins! That’s compared to 45mins to an hour to dry my hair with my old hair dryer...

LesserBother · 11/04/2021 16:34

If I tie mine up wet it will still be wet 3 days later when it's time to wash it again

This sounds like my hair. I'm half considering an undercut to improve matters as i swim a lot so have to wash hair often and i don't have the time or inclination to dry it.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 11/04/2021 16:47

@LesserBother I've got a slight undercut too, my DH does it for me. I did it mainly cause the hairline on the back of my head was all over the place and right down my neck. I love it now.

I have thick long hair and 90% of the time i let it dry naturally. It's too much of a faff to blow dry it each time I wash it.
BigWolfLittleWolf · 11/04/2021 21:50

I used to have really, really long hair and I used to try and leave it as long as possible to wash because it took ages to dry.

If I washed it in the morning and left to air dry parts of it would still be damp by bedtime!

SwimBaby · 11/04/2021 21:54

I received a Dyson hair dryer for Christmas and I love it. I have long hair that isn’t particularly thick but I have a lot of it (that’s what all my hairdressers have said) and it used to take ages to dry. I also upgraded my straighteners to GHDs snd they are fab to use. I curl it about once or twice a week and again I have a new gadget which only takes 6 minutes to make curls that last all day.

My hair is longish, and wavy. After washing I wrap it in a hair towel for as long as I can stand it, then I comb out and use a leave in conditioner, like Garnier hair food. Then I leave to air dry, it's usually dry in an hour or two.

If I'm in a rush I'll blow dry the roots only and leave the ends to air dry. It's as low maintenance as I can possibly bear to make it!
