Help my patchy, dry skin please.

Post menopausal, just had a hysterectomy and my skin is awful. Not just on my face, which is bad enough but everywhere. I use e45 which does help but my skin is hyper sensitive and even that can irritate me sometimes, particularly across my decolletage and it drives me mad.

Can anyone offer any suggestions please, particularly for my face?

I use Doublebase. It soaks in very quickly and is very effective.

And HRT.

SuperintendentHastings · 10/04/2021 21:08

Is that any good for your face too @HarrietHardy? I can't have HRT unfortunately.

Weleda Skin Food works on my very, very dry angry skin on my face. Its terribly thick but is very soothing and smells lovely. It was recommended on MN and I always have some now for when my skin plays up. I'm only perimenopausal but my skin can be really weird sometimes so I feel your pain.

Yes, I do use it on my face, even around my eyes.

Everything else tends to be scented and bother me!

Btw I use HRT patches, which are extremely safe, as is gel. I've had a previous DVT/PE but my gynae surgeon was happy to recommend it to my GP as I had my ovaries removed too. Also Ovestin vaginal cream.

I use aveeno when l have a reaction to something. Helps stop the burning too.

Have a look at Korres. They have their own website, and also have sets / kits on QVC, which sometimes work out cheaper. They do a few "all over" lotions and potions, and claim a lot of natural ingredients (although some items are perfumed). A lot of their products are aimed at peri / post menopausal women.

@HarrietHardy my GP refuses to give me HRT because I've not long finished breast cancer treatment. It's been a fun couple of years! Smile

Someone else recommended Aveeno to me so I think I'll try that too. I seem to get a very slight rash across my chest and down the sides of my neck sometimes and it's not much to see but the itching drives me mad! I used to have such nice skin, but no more.

Oh bless you, what a gruelling time you must be having. Flowers

There's a Menopause board on here with some threads about natural alternatives.

SuperintendentHastings · 10/04/2021 22:12

Thanks @HarrietHardy I'll have a look on there too.
