Any colourists around? Q on avoiding PPD

Has anyone any idea how to get around the PPD allergy thing and still colour stubborn greys brown permanently? I know henna is a possibility, but I really don't wanna go down that road cos a) I want it done in a salon, and b) I want a cool colour.

Hi, all permanent colour contains PPD, you need a permanent to cover white/grey effectively. Sorry.

Is it a confirmed reaction?

Your best bet would be to ring the salon, tell them you have it and see what they recommend.

I know there are hair dyes that are PPD free, but since you want the salon experience they'll be the ones to ask .

PPDs at some concentration are in pretty much all perm dyes but that doesn't mean there are no options. There are different dying techniques like balayage and painting on the dye that can very effectively avoid getting any on your skin.

Have a chat with the salon and maybe do some patch tests to see if they have any with a lower amount of PPDs.

I tend to go with bleach and crazy colours like bright red and purple which don't have PPDs in so avoid the reaction that way.
