Can I wear this, given my height?

I saw a lady today who looked really stylish, effortlessly so it seemed.
She was wearing a navy blue, loose fitting, long line roll neck sweater (which looked very good quality/expensive) over a relaxed, below the knee patterned skirt with long boots. She had a simple long chain necklace on.
Even in her face mask, she looked stunning.

But, the lady in question is about 5ft 9 and I'm 5ft 2. and a half!

Could I carry it off?

I'm also 5'2" and think it would be doable, just with a shorter skirt so you're not swamped by everything.

Toilenstripes · 08/04/2021 13:33

Proportionally probably not but it sounds like a smashing outfit. Those proportions would cut you three ways when what you want is an outfit that will elongate you.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 08/04/2021 13:35

With the right garments, yes, I think it is possible. More so if you're slim in my opinion.

thank you for the replies.

Toilenstrips, that's what I was worried about, making me look even shorter.

Hey ho. Sad

pressed send too soon.

Peaceloveandcandy, I'm a size 8. Do you have any garments to suggest for a shortie like me?

I'm 5 ft 2 and a size 8 and I generally find that I can wear most of the looks I like but with a bit of adaptation. Generally I need less width or volume in the cut of the clothes. So skirts that are a bit narrower, or a slightly more fitted top. It just has to be 'to scale'!

KirstenBlest · 08/04/2021 18:25

i'm slightly taller but quite broad - shouldered. i tend to go for a slim silhouette.

Roll necks can make me look like a blob - a looser neck is better.

Jumpsuits are good for making me look taller, as are outfits in one colour.

The outfit sounds elegant, why not try replicating it to see how it looks.
Go for a shorter neckline to draw the eye upwards, especially if you are a bit busty.

Long boots are great, I have rediscovered them recently.

necklace not neckline

Thanks for the extra posts. I will do some online window shopping tonight.

I'm short too! For this look, you'd need a jumper that stopped at your waist or could tuck in. If I wear a below the knee skirt, it needs heels (heeled boots are good) or it needs to be ankle length skirt, that mid calf length with flats is tough.

Knee boots with heel where the top is hidden by the hem of the skirt works well as its not another "break" in the lines as an ankle boot is. (I'm not sure im explaining that well!)

(Also if your skirt hem hits below the top of boots, you can pop leggings rather than tights on underneath floaty skirts to give you an extra layer for this freezing socialising outdoors days.)

I'm 5'2 and a size 8, and I really like this kind of look in winter. I think it's perfectly doable for shorties as long as evrything is in proportion (it's really easy for below the knee or midi skirts to hit in the wong place if you're short). I usuall tuck in my jumper, and avoid too much volume in the skirt otherwise I look swamped.

And thank you for the other replies. I already have the long boots, it's the skirts and jumpers I'm missing Smile

I'll take on board about keeping the jumper not too long line. And if I could find 3/4 length sleeves - I'm told that's a good feature for people who aren't tall to give the impression of height.
