Rosacea. What works and what doesn't.

It seems rosacea isn't an uncommon issue to deal with.
Sometimes its difficult to know what will help and what will cause problems, so I'm hoping we can pool experience to avoid costly mistakes.
I'm thinking more of over the counter products rather than prescription.
I can offer CeraVe am cream, Neutrogena hydro boost cleanser water gel, and L'oreal revitalift filler (+ hyaluronic acid) night cream and serum as helpful for me
And I have found Nivea moisturiser and micellar water extremely irritating.

@Goldenphoenix

Rosalique is working for my red bits. Really happy with it.
I second this.

I get IPL regularly. Every 3-4 months, though sometimes can stretch it to 6 months. It works really well for the flushing. I don’t find it sore and usually head straight back to work after it, there’s no obvious side-effects from it.

Last year I kept getting pains above my eyes especially my right eye. It was like my sinuses were blocked all the time. I get paid in my ears and they buzz all the time. My ears felt like I had vertigo, my throat hurt all the time. If I put the heating on my cheeks also got bright red and stinging.. the doctor told me I've got rosacea and tried lots of pills and cream. Then once spring came it all seemed to disappear.
But since winters come again everything has come back it feels like all my nerve ends in my face have shingles. The pain is awful.
I have my bedroom window open all night in all weathers.
Butttttt
When I wake up in the morning my face is so red and sore. I've enclosed some pictures. All my cheeks below my eyes are swollen and I can't move my forehead.
I don't know what is going on but I've been to a dermatologist at the hospital who subscribed Clonidine Hydrochloride 25 micrograms 2 in the morning and two at night. I've been taking them for three months and my face is still the same but although still sore, it seems to have eased a little bit. But I'm so low through the pain and burning feelings I get all the time. I'm wondering if you can help me. It's so depressing. Nothing seems to be helping me. If I go out I can't go into a shop without my head and face hurting me and going really red.
Sorry to be bothering you. I just need help.

I know this is an old thread but there’s so much good info and advice. After 15 years of dormant rosacea it seems to have kicked up with the menopause. I’m on doxycycline but am also considering the laser treatment. Just wondered how everyone got on with this. Or is there something better these days? Thanks

PDL is effective for 3-5 years, sometimes longer. It usually returns as there's no cure.

Also apply Soolantra (Ivermectin) and/or Finacea (Azelaic Acid) cream. You can get them prescribed through the NHS.

Pharmacies like Monderma and Skin+Me mix the two with Niacinamide. It's often even more effective but cheaper to get them both through your GP if you can.

Treating rosacea usually requires both. Some people do manage to stop breakouts with cream alone. Strengths can go quite high.
