"In" style for teenage boys

Hi,
As it says in the subject what are the in labels teenagers wear these days? I'm conscious of him going into high school and while labels shouldn't matter I know that it actually does! He couldn't give a hoot what he wears but I'm sure that'll change in a few months so would rather buy him some of the trends now rather than buy different now and then have to fork out for new stuff.

We were looking at trainers online and he likes the look of fila ones but when I was in high school these were seen as a "naff" brand. I'll get them as they are the ones he likes.

So if you could enlighten me please clothing/trainers I'd be grateful Confused

My ds isn’t the most trendy so plays it safe (as a lot do at their age) with either Nike or Adidas tops and trainers.

HastingsIsSuckingDiesel · 06/04/2021 21:38

DS and his mates all wear

Northface (everyone seems to have a black northface puffer jacket and rucksack!)

Adidas

Nike

Mostly Adidas though.

ShoppingBasket · 06/04/2021 21:57

Thanks, I had noticed the north face trend and 11 degrees. Thought I was missing something as there is a lot of fila/mckensie/sonneti on jd sports.

Hmm think I'll play it safe with Nike trainers.

There is a reason the McKenzie and Sonneti clothes are normally the cheapest on JD Sports. DS13 is very into his brands and wouldn't be seen dead in them. When he started Secondary school it was all Adidas, Nike, North Face, Champion, Ellese, now he has added Stone Island, CP Company, Kenzo and Vivienne Westwood to his repertoire. I think for an 11 year old you can't go wrong with Adidas and Nike which never seem to go out of fashion and then let them decide what they want based on what 'group' they find themselves in at Secondary as DS is very much in the sporty clothes kind of group but some groups at his school are all skinny jeans, Converse and Vans so it does depend.

LizzieMacQueen · 06/04/2021 22:06

Carhartt is popular. Expensive so I usually buy in their sale.

needadvice54321 · 06/04/2021 22:09

DS2 is 12 and yr 7. He mainly wears Nike or Champion, although does own a couple of fancier brands - Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. He has a 17 year old brother who is very into clothes so it's rubbing off on him!! ASOS is great for branded bits if your DS is into men's sizes? They regularly have 20% off all items nights, you can normally pick up some nice bits quite cheaply

We're also lucky to live near a couple of those designer retail parks!

ShoppingBasket · 06/04/2021 22:30

Thanks all, I'll keep an eye out for all the brands mentioned. Looks like I'll have to save up some dollars 😓
Thanks for heads up on asos, didn't realise they had a mens section 😳

Nike and Adidas have sales on their websites pretty regularly. If you download their apps you'll get a notification when they happen.
The discounts can be pretty good with often an extra 20% off in the last couple of days of the sale.

ASOS is my best friend Grin. Can nearly always find what either son is after, so no need to drag them around the shops and it's £9.95 for a years next day delivery. Really easy returns too!
Lotsachocolateplease · 06/04/2021 22:38

To add another few into the mix my ds14 wears
Abercrombie and Fitch
Vans
Hollister
Tommy hillfiger
Good for nothing
Jack wills

He used to wear superdry but that’s not cool anymore apparently. Also has an older brother so think he gets his brand ideas from him!

Lots of hoodies and always Nike trainers or vans

It’s easier when they can wear men’s sizes. Look out for sales online and as a pp said the designer retail parks.

ShoppingBasket · 06/04/2021 23:02

Oh flip sake I thought superdry was one of the in things. I thought I was a trendy Mum 🤣 the responses here just shows I haven't a flipping clue. I'll have to stalk the local school to keep an eye, I'll probably get a name for myself 😅

OP posts:
Hellocatshome · 06/04/2021 23:20

SuperDry has been taken over by Mums and to a lesser extent Dads, thats why its not cool anymore.

Mumdiva99 · 06/04/2021 23:25

We aren't really trendy here either. So I went for an Adidas tshirt and hoodie, he has a football kit, Nike trainers. Ther rest is unbranded. So he asked me to get some plain t-shirts rather than ones with a picture on. His shorts are all gap, outfit etc

As for school stuff....his rugby boots came from decathlon. They hardly wear them so I was blowed if I was going to buy expensive ones....although I would have gone second hand if he cared.

Uniquerandomer · 06/04/2021 23:47

Hollister
Nike
Adidas
Under armour clothing and school bags (boys in da school tend to get the long armed white thermal tops to wear under their shirts for the winter months, the logo is hidden under the tie area).
