My DD 13 has developed really flakey scalp on her hairline . I should think it's probably to do with hormones etc what works at getting rid of it , it's not like dandruff there's big flakes of it in her hair . Her actual scalp doesn't look like there's anything wrong with it it's Just all in her hair if that makes sense. Has anyone got any suggestions xx
@lanaa when you say use it for the second lather do you mean wash hair first with normal shampoo and then use that?
Yes.
I always find it doesn't lather properly when used on dirty hair. It's great stuff.

Nizoral is the only thing that has continued to work after the initial coupe of months use. Everything else worked initially but stopped after a short while. Nizoral has also left my hair in the best condition it’s ever been in. It’s so swishy!

My 13 year old DS has exactly the same all the flakes seem to be in his hair not on his scalp. He is using TGel shampoo at the moment and it seems to be working. Smells weird though.

Another vote for the body shop ginger shampoo and conditioner. Improved my dandruff, people keep saying how shiny my hair is and I’ve gone from having to wash it everyday to every other for the first time in ages.

I posted about this a while ago and was recommended T Gel - fab stuff! I also bought DS a shampoo brush (Amazon) which has massively helped. He now uses head and shoulders to keep it under control

Head and shoulders...I tried the Philip Kingsley itchy scalp shampoo and was shocked at how awful it was. Went back to head and shoulders and it cleared the problem right up (again)

I have psoriasis on the scalp and use good old fashioned coal tar shampoo. I generally buy the TGel version. DS gets this too, he uses it as well. If I have a flair up, I'll use it twice a week at first, then once the scalp has settled down, I revert back to using about once a fortnight.

I wash with coal tar first, then I use a bar shampoo from Kin Kind, without SLS, etc, which shampoos out the smell. (Last time I looked Lush shampoo bars included SLS, so I avoid those).

@needadvice54321 oh I’ve never heard of a shampoo brush! Thanks for tip I’m going to order one for my ds to try

This sort of thing! Super cheap, been great for DS who struggles to get the shampoo properly through his hair

My DD also suffered and my first try was T-Gel as that worked well for me in my teenage years. It didn’t help at all on my DD. My hairdresser suggested H&S and said it does work for some people. DD’s flaky scalp had cleared up within 2 washes. She uses it semi regularly now but it makes her hair really static.

Dd has a combination of flakey scalp and incredibly thick hair. We have tried so many different shampoos over the years with limited success. However I recently spotted salicylic acid for the scalp from the Inkey List which has made a huge difference. You massage it into the scalp, leave for 10 mins then shampoo. It's essentially exfoliating the scalp. It's the best thing we've tried so far, dd says she would recommend it.

@mymymy0

Nizoral is the only thing that's worked for me/my family
Nizoral works for me. My husband uses TGel too.

I wish they all did smaller trial bottles. It works out so expensive and wasteful trying to find the one that works
