Profhilo AMA

I've recently turned 39 and have taken the plunge and got Profhilo. It is an injectable hyaluronic acid that isn't quite a filler but remodels the skin, boosts moisture and helps with loss of volume. My skin is quite good anyway but this has given it a real boost and it has a sheen to it that it didn't before. I would recommend it. I haven't had Botox or fillers. I paid £600 for two sessions. It lasts for 6 months or so but you only need the one dose to top it up then.

If anyone who wants to try it has any questions, let me know.

Do you live in the UK? If so, I din't think this was possible until April12th.

No, I am currently in an EU country where cosmetic treatments are permitted. However, you can get it in the UK too if it is done through a licenced clinic and administered by a doctor, as it counts as medical treatment.

Have you had fillers or botox before? What do you think is the difference?

Leanandmean31 · 02/04/2021 16:26

I've not had botox or fillers but I would say that Profhilo gives a more subtle result. You definitely don't look 'done' but at the same time, it's not going to correct deep lines or severe loss of volume. The doctor explained to me that filler stays in the place where it is injected, whereas Profhilo migrates across the face. Also, Profhilo stimulates the skin to produce natural collagen too, which filler doesn't do. I think I probably will try filler at some point but hopefully not for a while yet as I really want to stay looking natural. Profhilo was perfect for me due to this but I don't think it's for people who want a more dramatic change.

Was it painful? How quickly did you see results? I’ve heard mixed reviews on this!

Leanandmean31 · 02/04/2021 17:00

Not going to lie - it hurts! It’s five injections on each side of the face. Two on the jawline, one in the cheek, one near the mouth and one on the chin. The needle going in isn’t too bad but then it really stings when they inject it. However, it’s over pretty quick and there’s no down-time.

You have two lots of treatment a month apart when you first get it. After the first one, I noticed better skin for a few days afterwards but it then went back to normal. The real results come after the second treatment and I’d say it’s pretty immediate, although it apparently can take a couple of weeks. As I said above, it’s not really dramatic and definitely not so that anyone will be able to tell you’ve had stuff done. But for people who aren’t sure about fillers, it’s good.

@Leanandmean31

Hi!

I'm just reading up about this, can I ask if you bruised with this treatment?

I've had Botox and Filler, old hag alert Confused, and I'm not keen to have Filler again as I bruised soooo badly.

I'm interested in trying this treatment as I have got lines on my mouth, droopy mouth I think it's called...very attractive.

Did you have any lines that were deeper and had a good result with this treatment? Will you have it again?

Thank you!
