Clog/mule style shoe - scandi architect?

Are clog or mule style shoes cool?
I was thinking of DM ones or Birkenstock Bostons, for wearing with
dark indigo jeans. Something like these but in brown. Would they be a bit scandi architect?

When I ventured out recently, I noticed that teenage girls were wearing (white) crocs. Are these what young people are wearing this year?

OP, I have Arizona's but recently bought a black leather pair of Boston's for the same reason. I also wanted a chunky shoe alternative to the proverbial biker boot - I'm so tired of biker boots, biker jackets as ways of toughening up an otherwise too- sweet look.

I entirely disagree that one shouldn't spend much on slippers. They are worn daily and for many hours sometimes. It therefore follows they should be good quality and have arch support - especially as we get older.

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2021 22:41

The young people do look like identikits. The straight long hair and tons of make up etc. I was a bit surprised by the white crocs. Definitely a bit too nursey for me.

Don't worry about taking over - I tend to, but I value your input.

I love clothes but don't have the budget or lifestyle for couture, so opt for what suits my shape and personality, and that are well-designed and fit for purpose.

I have those Birkenstocks and love them (but I don't claim to be remotely stylish!) I wear them for sloping about the garden but I find they're not that comfy for walking in as they tend to make me shuffle. I agree that brown (or grey or navy) are better than white due to healthcare uniform associations. I'd love to get a pair of the felt ones too, but I worry they might be mistaken for my slippers.

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2021 22:43

That's a good point Roses. I only wear slippers (crocs) in the kitchen and garden, barefoot otherwise. I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes.

I won't wear ballerina slippers or converse because of the complete lack of arch support. Crocs & imitation crocs aren't great but they are better than flipflops/slides.

@sansucre, the studio nicolson is exactly it.

I have some brown Birkenstock Boston’s - have had for 4 years and still look new. I love the “Scandi Off Duty Architect” look!

Try hasbeens

sansucre · 02/04/2021 10:59

@KirstenBlest

Even Studio Nicholson can't make white clogs look good! Grin

I love my Bostons - I'm on my second pair - mostly worn as slippers - occasionally I venture out in them.

anomletteandaglassofwine · 02/04/2021 13:03

I have a Penelope Chilvers pair, similar to these, I love the look of them although I think the hard wooden sole caused me some foot pain. I'm not certain they were the cause, but I'm suspicious, so I'll be careful about wearing them so much this summer.

I also have a pair of shearling lined Bostons which I wear as slippers. They are very comfortable but I'm not sure I'd wear them out of the house.
They are so fashionable at the moment, all the fashion conscious teens I know have a pair.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 02/04/2021 13:54

I really want some clogs now.

Then I remembered I have a at least 3 pairs in various suede, leather and sheepskin combos already. Happy Days.

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2021 14:14

I still like the ones in the OP - the white ones, but in brown.

The Pen. Chilv. ones are too high for me, but otherwise nice.

I think I like things from when I was a teenager. My friend's sister was just a little older and at tech. college and they were both quite arty/creative. The sister wore some leather wooden clogs and she seemed so cool.

Fitflop has some offerings in these styles.

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2021 16:00

I don't want flipflops. Not that I am dissing fitflops, far from it, but they are not 'me'. I want a DM vibe that is Dr Marten not Dear Mother.

Fitflop, Skechers, and Hotter do perfectly OK shoes.

I love those Hasbeens. Very much my style. I'm going to buy a pair for summer.

Geamhradh · 02/04/2021 20:15

Lotta Sweden are fabulous. There was a clog thread a couple of weekends ago and I've now got a wishlist of about 25 pairs Grin

ElspethFlashman · 02/04/2021 20:31

What about Dansko clogs? The white ones are achingly trendy but they're undeniably nursey so perhaps look at another colour! The shape is cool though. Pretty sure you can get them on Amazon.

I have become slightly obsessed with Fitflops new clogs. Pretty sure I owned an identical pair in the 90s but these might actually be lighter than 2 breeze blocks on my feet!

@ElspethFlashman, the black ones are nice.

about to disappear into the clogs thread

I've already posted on it! Wonder why I started to want clogs again.

@KirstenBlest

I had a pair in 1996 of those closed birkies. Couldn’t tell you what style I gave off or followed then!

I find cork bed sandals real comfy but those closed ones made my feet smelly.
