What do you think of my new fringe while using some fab products from onlycurls.com?

I've attached the before and after photos to show what I mean. I can't quite believe how curly my hair has become!!

I've used the curl cream, curl gel and towel following their curly girl method. I wasn't so impressed with their shampoo and conditioner but the products and towel have transformed my hair, especially as it hasn't been cut for four months (bar me hacking off the fringe).

What do you think? I think I'm a convert. Has anyone else used their products?

  • [Note from MNHQ: the OP's asked us to remove the pics as (while her hair looked fab!) she hadn't managed to blank out her face. She's going to post more pics further down the thread...]

Your hair looks great! Soft, defined, nice shape and curly. It’s great that you’ve found products that work for you as I know the at isn’t easy. I’ve not tried only curls, but after seeing your results, I’m tempted.

Blondiney · 01/04/2021 20:01

You have a gorgeous natural curl pattern and I think I prefer them in their natural, fluffy state. They almost look too ‘perfect’ in the after pic, like they’ve been tonged or something.

Thanks!

As well as the Only Curls styling products, the shampoo I use is Koha solid shampoo bar which is curly girl friendly and handmade naturals conditioner for curly hair.

I'm relieved I've found products that suit me after wasting so much money.

@Aurea Your curls look lovely, they don't look tonged at all - very natural.

I have curly hair, ringlets really, my curls are tighter than yours. I really really REALLY want a fringe. How have you got yours cut, is it a proper full on fringe or more tapered into the front of your hair IYSWIM?

Aurea · 01/04/2021 20:27

I've just hacked a bit off myself as it was in my eyes so it's not perfect, but after the first lock down when hairdressers reopened I asked for a fringe for the first time ever.

My hairdresser parted my hair where my natural parting is and took a small amount of hair (just at the very middle front with a depth of around 8cm) in a V shape towards the crown (I was watching) and trimmed this to just below my nose (it springs up so much). Sorry I can't be more technical than this. I was told by another hairdresser a fringe would look awful and stick out but I'm really pleased with it and it hides my frown lines!!

This is very good timing as I'm just thinking of starting CG method. My hair has outgrown a pixie cut and I grew out my grey and I've got quite a nice head of curls. For the first time I'm thinking I might just see what my natural look is!

My only problem is that because it's short I feel it's greasy if I don't wash it every day. Currently co-washing but I might have a look at these products!

Thanks.

Ancora

I've just measured the depth of my fringe back towards my crown and it's only around 6cm (not 8 like I said before). My new hairdresser has curly hair herself and plays around on her own hair which helps of course.

Have a look at this vid as it shows you the separate stages (although I prefer to use the other brands of shampoo & conditioner that I linked above). It looks a faff but it's quick and easy once you get used to treating your hair differently. My hair is half dry after using the towel which is a bonus. I no longer need to use my expensive Dyson diffuser.

BTW I'm now a home colour convert. I use Phyto hair color 6.77 from allbeauty.com. It's super easy, gentle and mostly natural (natural pigments and no ammonia).

I really like Onlycurls too!

I've never done 'CG method' with co-washing etc but I have picked CG friendly brands and shampooed as normal. I find the big difference is they are much much more conditioning. My hair needs so much moisture.

dammit88 · 02/04/2021 08:40

I don't know if you are aware but on my computer where you have tried to mark out your face it doesn't work at all and I can see you, the black is completely transparent! Im guessing you did it on a phone. Just in case you were hoping to be anonymous .....

Girlintheframe · 02/04/2021 09:37

Your hair looks fantastic.

I'm still trying to find the right products for my curls. Will give only Curls a go!

Aurea · 02/04/2021 14:17

Sorry - here are the before and after photos properly blanked out now ( I hope). I think I had the mark up on the opaque setting. 😂

Does look good and adds a bit of shine, but for the time and faff i think I'll be keeping the ghds. Presumably this is also an every day thing, does it go frizzy again when you sleep on it?

Aurea · 02/04/2021 15:02

Well, I don't wash my hair everyday but I do condition it everyday in the shower and then apply styling products. It goes all tangly and crazy looking after tossing and turning in bed if I don't do anything. I could just wet it but that wouldn't save much time.

The only curls towel cuts down the drying time by about 75% as well.

Is this an ad?

Aurea · 02/04/2021 16:07

No I can assure you this is not an ad! Maybe I should be flattered?

I've recommended four different brands of products. One from Amazon, one from a small natural product home business, one from a big French cosmetic company and some products from a UK based curly hair-specific brand.

I'm just a bit bored at home......
