Best bra for a 36D

I’ve been living in bralettes but my return to work is looming and so I’m in need of some new bras.

My history with bra shopping is horrendous. I have never felt like I’ve owned a bra that truly worked for me Hmm

I’m looking for something simple looking that is smooth so it won’t show through clothes. Ideally a tshirt bra, I suppose! I’m not a fan of lace and bright colours Blush

I need the lift though as they’ve changed somewhat after baby! I also have a long chest and my breasts sit low so anything without the lift just makes them look saggy.

Has anyone in my size found the perfect bra yet?

Thanks all.

So, the back size 34 is the right fit for me. I think a 32 would have been too small!

Overall this 34DD seems to fit but it’s a full cup so it’s hard to tell as they’re just stuck in there. I have remembered why I hate actual bras over bralettes and hoping you can help...

See how they look really pointy? Is that a sizing problem? The fact it’s a full cup? There is actually a pocket of air at the front of each of these cups that I can push inwards. I just want them to look rounded like my actual breast shape.

Didn’t attach!

I don't like full cup bras and prefer balconette or plunge as they give a better shape.

Does the central bit of the bra sit flat against your ribs between your breasts? Did you scoop any side flesh into the cups?

doireallyneedaname · 02/04/2021 13:49

@dementedpixie There is a very small gap inbetween, maybe enough to fit one finger through.

My breasts don’t fill the cups so I didn’t have to stuff any of them in there Blush I feel like the cups are more bra than boob to be honest.

Thanks for all the help by the way. Had no idea about a lot of this!

The trend to take two off the band and add two on the cup much beloved of Rigby and Peller resulted in uncomfortably tight bands and baggy cups that came up to my neck! I sent the bra I was fitted for and bought from R&P back, think its a swizz personally! I think its just trial and error tbh to find the right size- so many different styles and fabrics... sometimes I'm 34DD mostly I'm 36D and occasionally 36C...

Sounds like a style issue. If the central gore isn't flat the cup is usually too small. But breast shape and bra style also come into it.

@dementedpixie Becoming more and more convinced it’s just my boobs. They are pretty deflated these days!

This was the last one I got for my Christmas. Balconette is my preferred shape as you don't get the empty bit at the top of the cup

after babies and weight loss, full cup bras often don't work. My favourites are half cups that give a nice rounded shape and uplift, but no empty fabric.

If certain part is not against the ribcage then the cup is still most likely too small, even if there is empty fabric. Try maybe:

Any of these suit?

Thank you! Will have a look

It can be a massive faff trying loads of styles on until you work out what suits! Keep going!

Once you have your size, then shape is the next thing, and that is pretty much just trial and error
