Help! Hair dye disaster

I’ve managed to dye some bits of my hair orange & need help to dye them a non clown related colour.
My hair is naturally very very dark brown but with quite a few greys on the parting & temples.
I always dye it myself without any problems.
Recently I’ve been thinking the dark brown is a bit dark as I’m getting older,so this time I got a dark mahogany/chestnut brown (still dark but not as dark)
The colour on my brown hair is fine, the colour on my grey hair is bright bloody orange! I’ve got orange temples & an orange top of head.
Can I put a dark brown over it to make it go away? It’s a semi permanent (28 washes or similar if that helps)

All I can say is thank god for lockdown & working from home 😂😭

You need a permanent colour to cover grey well. It's never as dense with semi permanent. Yes you can colour straight over but it might be quite dry.

Luckily after a year of lockdown & not using a hair dryer (Or a brush most days!) my hair is in pretty good condition so hopefully won’t be too dry, I’m more worried that it will turn bright green or something.
I’m guessing darkest brown is my only option?

I would say so. I used to use a dark brown (it was very dark, almost black) on my white hair and it covered it fully. If you go for a medium brown choose one that says ash so it is cool toned rather than warm/orange toned.

When I decided to stop colouring it I switched to semi permanent and got the offending blorange roots too.
