Can ears be re-pierced?

I had mine pierced as a young’un, with two holes in each ear (including one in the cartilage bit at the top). I haven’t worn earrings for about 20 years but have decided I’d like to again. I can still see the holes but I’m too scared to try and put anything through them! Can they be opened up again?

I had the same hole re pierced last year at a piercers (so needle) no problem.

I haven't worn earrings for at least twenty years, but I can still get them in. A load of gunk builds up in the holes though and I have to regularly squeeze it out.

Yes had mine all redone after 10yrs including in cartilage. Always go to a proper piercing place with a needle not someone with a gun at Claire's accessories. I love having earrings again!

A little dab of glycerine hand cream is what worked for me!

@DustyMaiden

I tried to get mine redone at jewellers and Claire’s accessories and was told they would do it but not in exactly the same place. So DH did it for me and it was really easy.

Categorically do not do this. From someone who has been an actual piercer, please don't use these.

Have to say I redid mine a couple of weeks ago with the Amazon piercing thing. I did it over the same hole I haven’t used for about 20 years and it went in easily with no pain at all. I was planning to go to a piercer but figured it was worth a try

I left mine for years without earrings. More like 10 years than 20. Assumed they had closed over and then a friend bought me earrings for pierced ears as a gift and I just shoved them in Blush. It was actually fine. I was a child when I had them pierced and think I wasn't that good at using them, so my ears always puffed up and got annoyed when I put earrings in, so i just left them to close over.

I have an old nose piercing though and I think that is absolutely not useable anymore. Imagine the cartridge bit of your ear would be the same. I'd be tempted to get my nose done again tbh, but maybe not.

Cartlidge not cartridge!

ShaunaTheSheep · 01/04/2021 09:23

So now we're all reviving our piercings, what earrings are you all going for?

I've given DD all my old ones except a pair of diamond studs that she's allowed to borrow on special occasions.

I'd like some for every day though, but clueless.

The last time I wore earrings I was a teenager in the 90s so it was a random assortment from Affleck’s Palace in Manchester. I’m not sure this time around but maybe slightly more classy (probably not though) Grin

I managed to get earrings back into mine after over a decade.

Grapewrath · 05/04/2021 21:00

I hadn’t worn my cartlidge piercing for 20 years or my second piercings. I just put jewellery back in without a problem

CombatBarbie · 05/04/2021 21:06

Yes, I've done it with my piercings in my ears, needed a push to get through the back but it was fine once done.
