The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + Aveeno

Hi, I have extremely dry sensitive skin all over including my face. For the last few years I’ve been using Aveeno intensive body moisturiser on both my body and my face (the navy blue one) with success. Currently feeling like my face needs a boost so after a bit of research I bought some Hyaluronic acid from The Ordinary and started it yesterday. Putting a couple drops on my face when damp, leaving to soak in and then putting my usual Aveeno on top. It’s been really stinging for a while after doing this and I wondered if anyone else has any experience of the same combination of products? I’m not overly concerned as the stinging wears off and there’s no redness etc, so want to persevere for a few days to see if it settles. Any others out there with super dry and sensitive faces want to share their star products? I don’t wear makeup, and for washing most days I just use a bamboo wipe and water, and in shower I use Aveeno ultra calming face wash which my face tolerates well. Thank you! :)

HA is just a hydrator so it shouldn't sting, but I've noticed the Vichy 89 serum I'm using up stings occasionally. (It's another HA one) so it might be.

@Geamhradh you might already know this but I have the vichy 89 serum and only just found out... it's a "step zero" serum so you're meant to apply immediately after cleansing / before toner. I'd been doing it wrong! I hadn't noticed any stinging but I do think it feels nicer now I'm applying it when you're meant to. Oops!

Oh! That's interesting. I've been applying it AFTER toner. That might explain it! Thank you!

@Geamhradh that's what I was doing too but I read something online (can't find it now) that labelled it a step zero serum that goes on in between them, so for me that means I wash my face in the shower then it's the first thing I apply when I get out. I was finding it ever so slightly tacky when applying it the "wrong" way but I don't get that feeling now.

@Tops82 I tried the ordinary one and although it didn't sting, I didn't feel like it did much either. I used up the bottle then moved on.

Cerave do one you could try...

Or there's a Vichy range for dry and dehydrated skin called Aqualia which has a serum...

One thing I've been doing more during lockdown is buying samples/sachets on eBay before committing to full sized bottles.

Great idea about the samples!

I've seen people on here recommend the Superdrug serum too (haven't tried it myself but v cheap so could be worth a punt?)
