Babyliss as alternative to Dyson Airwrap

Is the Babyliss good enough and not very damaging to the hair? Would it work on fairly long and thick hair also? There is a huge difference in the price but as someone who cannot justify paying for any Dyson hair styling product, would the Babyliss one work just as well? I’m not someone who generally even bothers blow drying but would like the option of having something to look a bit more groomed.

Thanks 70sduvet. That helps. Style and go sounds good to me. And at £30-40, even if I did in future decide to get a Dyson hairdryer or airwrap, At least I haven’t wasted hundreds already.

I love my BBH, but have always been tempted by the air wrap and the promise of silky hair. Would love to hear from someone who was actually happy with the BBH but found the air wrap to be next level.

On a different note I highly recommend the ghd glide. Not for curls, but it is the quickest easiest hair taming tool ever & best on dry hair. Have got into the habit of washing hair right before bed; going to bed with wet hair, waking up looking like a scarecrow and then in 5 mins the glides just tames it all. So good!

I'd recommend the Revlon too, DD has waist length hair and bought one with her Christmas money, she loves it. I have shoulder length hair and keep stealing it too. It is quick and easy and looks fab.

I bought a babyliss big hot air brush in the sale after xmas 2020 in the hope it would save me buying a Dyson air-wrap. I have thick long hair that is past the shoulders that is naturally curly and the babyliss was absolutely useless, it has bristles and is not a hair brush therefore was not tough enough to run through my hair and just tangled it around the barrel. I returned it after 2 uses and bought an air-wrap which is brilliant and worth every penny!! The air-wrap is an actual brush that will get through your hair and allow you to style while drying!!

When i did het the hang of the BBH it left my hair frizzier than when I leave it to air dry!!

To keep egging it
What stealthbanana said about the ghd glide
I do that with the revlon too. Get up after being too lazy to have dried my hair and can look half decent in 2 mins.
Its worth it. That's not even their tag line. But it is.
And yes, because its not at all the same function as a Dyson you can keep dreaming about one while having shiny semi bouncy hair 😉

Would love to hear from someone who was actually happy with the BBH but found the air wrap to be next level.

I did - I loved BBH so much I actually had two, so I could have one for my gym bag as well. But compared to airwrap, it just leaves hair frizzier and fluffier, as it blows it outwards, while airwrap pulls all hair in. And the BBH bristles damaged my hair after daily use.

stealthbanana · 31/03/2021 15:35

@KatharinaRosalie oooh that’s exciting. I find that with the BBH too - it’s definitely not a sleek finish.

Hmmm maybe I’ll have to buy one!

I have both the Revlon One Step and the Dyson Airwrap.

The Revlon blows is all directions so when I am doing a top section of hair the previously dried lower section is getting blown at too which leaves it more frizzy. My hair is in contact with one side of the brush but the air is coming out of all the holes. I alternate between hair going over and hair being underneath and brushing like I am just brushing my hair.

The Dyson only blows in one direction so much so I now don't section my hair. It really has changed the way I style my hair. I blow dry it with the Dyson hair dryer attachment then switch over to the flat brush.

Re curls, I find the airwrap curler effortless, no wrapping the hair trying not to touch the red hot barrel and holding my arms at awkward angles over my head, no worrying I am going to burn myself, I just hold my hair out, wait for it to wrap around, move the wand up, sit there whilst it heats the hair, cool shot, turn off and remove. For those saying it doesn't hold a curl you just need to experiment with styling products. Mine won't hold a curl the first day I wash it unless I spray in some texture spray and use something from L'oreal.

Also I bought my Dyson from Dyson so if it didn't work I could return it.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 31/03/2021 16:47

Hmmmmm, maybe a GHD glide is what I’m after.
I don’t section my hair or style it so maybe this is even better than a Revlon One Step that is a barrel brush. I do have a heated brush somewhere but it isn’t very effective- only mildly so - but it wasn’t a branded one.
