Tooth whitening

Has anyone had their teeth whitened at a dentist, and can I ask how much it cost and how good/ lasting the results were?
Can you just address the teeth people see?
And, has anyone used over the counter tooth whitening kits and what were the results?
Thank you Smile

My DH had his done at the dentist and it was about £400. They don't actually do it for you there you just get the kit from them and you do it yourself. You can then buy extra gels to get the desired shade and then to manintain afterwards. The gels were £25 each when needed.

I wouldn't bother with the over counter ones or any you see on Instagram etc from what I've read by law they can only have a certain percentage of bleach in them and it's not a lot. If you want them done properly you need to go to a dentist because they have a much higher percentage of bleach in them as they are allowed etc.

Hope this helps.

@ElleL91
Thank you.
That does help. I had no idea of price and didn't want to ask at the dentist in case I found them a bit pushy.

I've used Crest white strips, they do a reasonable job. They don't treat all teeth, just the front ones, and doesn't get into the gaps as well as a proper gel kit, but not bad for the value compared to a dentist-bought kit

@Lellochip
That sounds worth trying.
I was hoping having it done at the dentist wasn't quite as expensive as it apparently is!

Crest strips are fantastic and worked really well for me. You can put the strips on the sides too if you want (this is what i did)

I'm currently undergoing some dental work and part of that is Enlighten whitening for £710

My mum bought tooth whitening from the dentist years ago. I bought teeth moulds and made my own and used her whitening product 🤣 it worked really well, but it gave both of us a horrible sensitive feeling in out mouths and all through our bodies. Neither of us could stand the feeling of the carpet under our bare feet for a long time. Even after we had stopped using the product.

I paid about £300 for a kit from the dentist. Professional moulds which are super comfy and I only need to wear them for an hour at a time.

I've been pleased with the results and it's easy to do. They're sensitive for 24 hours after each treatment but that isn't permanent.

So I've been thrilled that no one has seen them as I'm always in a mask in public 🙈

@FindingMeno

If you have any private dentists near you most of them will have prices on their website and do a free consultation.

DH had his done for our wedding in 2019 and had some bonding as well because he had cracked one of his front teeth.

I went to the same place for a consultation as I wanted something doing with my teeth. I found them really nice and not pushy at all just went through all my options and then when I went down to reception they gave me a full invoice with all the different options and prices on. Didn't fell pressurised at all they just said take you time have a read through and give it a good think and if you want it doing then just get back in touch.

I think if you're going to a private place they are a bit nicer as if you do decide to go through with it you're paying a lot more.

Thank you everyone!
@ElleL91 maybe I will just have a chat ( I have a maintenance plan with a good private dentist so I may even get a discount with the plan, which I hadn't thought of before). At least I have an idea of the general cost I should be expecting. Thank you!
