Olaplex shampoo and conditioner - worth the money?

I've been using the 0 and 3 for a year and my hair is definitely a little bit stronger. Not massively but it has made a difference. I use the no.6 for styling and like it too. Do any of you rate the no. 4 and 5? Are they worth getting? I have v v thin hair that's brittle and dry (well a bit less so now). If it's worth the money I'll invest. Would be interested to know what anyone thinks about it.

Marking

I use it. I couldn't tell you if that's what has improved my hair or if it's (more likely) less heat I've been using and less colouring appointments due to lockdown. I'll keep buying it though because it lasts sooooo long. You need a tiny amount of shampoo as it froths up beautifully.

justwaydamin. Thanks. It’s a plus if you only need a small amount as the bottles look small.

I love them. The conditioner I would rate as more average - it does its job, but I think that you could get similar results using plenty of other conditioners. The shampoo, on the other hand, is absolutely brilliant. You only need a bit, it froths up perfectly, and makes my hair feel healthier. I actually have a very similar hair type - thin and brittle (plus very wavy which makes it even more difficult to deal with!), and the Olaplex shampoo has been a massive success.

I used to have 1 & 2 done at salon, did 3 at home. Hair like straw, it did help for a while. Now stopped salon dying, use demi permanent at home. Hair is in fabulous condition.

I’m interested in this too, what are the different numbers about? Thanks

@mammmamia

I’m interested in this too, what are the different numbers about? Thanks
I work in a salon (not a hairdresser but hear a lot about this and have used myself)

The 1 and 2 numbers are usually done in the salon alongside your colour treatment, number 3 is taken home to sort of 'maintain' what has been done in the salon
4 and 5 are the shampoo and conditioner then 6 is just a leave in serum type thingy!!

They are fab products but if you were to buy anything I'd definitely recommend 4 & 5 there isn't much point using number 3 unless you have had number 1 & 2 in the salon ☺️ x

Thank you @boymummy2019 !

This is really helpful thanks. I’m going to get the shampoo when I finish the one I’m using.

You can get a little trial back with 3,4,5&6 in

earsup · 27/03/2021 23:18

Tried them but really not sure if any difference....i just leave my Tigi conditioner on now for an hour and hair feels great....who knows if these products work..?!

They are meant to strengthen chemical bonds that were broken by things like bleaching. I used it after a hair dressing diaster when the salon changed brands and it turned out that the new brand's blonde level 9 was something close to mid brown. I had to have the colour bleached and then a bleach wash before it could be coloured over. I think the no 3 did help and it felt much softer. It's not really a coditioner that's meant for dry hair though as far as I understand.

sausagerollcake · 28/03/2021 00:07

I've just changed to the Treseme bond repair stuff. I can't tell a difference. Listened to. Podcast from a chemist who said no.3 was likely to be the only one that made a difference.

Amortentia · 28/03/2021 03:03

Allbeauty.com sell a trial set. I don't think the shampoo or conditioner is worth it. But, no6 & no7 are. The are the prestyling and the oil. If you mix a small drop of each together and put on damp hair you'll notice a difference. After you dry and style you can run a drop of the oil through the ends. It's brilliant for shine & smoothness without leaving you greasy. Really worth doing if you curl your hair.

My only complaint is that I think the oil smells a bit odd, but you don't notice it once it's in your hair.

ZaraW · 28/03/2021 09:00

I really didn't like the shampoo and conditioner. 0, 3 and 6 are my favourites.

bananaboats · 28/03/2021 10:31

I love the shampoo and conditioner, along with aveda they are the only ones who have ever made a positive difference to my hair

Bananaman123 · 28/03/2021 11:31

i bought the set with 3,4,5 and 6. I like 3 but i wont buy the shampoo and conditioner again, i dont feel any benefit in strength of hair. I prefer redkin anti snap and instead of 6 i prefer ghd cream and john frieda.

I have a lot of breakage and fine hair so feel olaplex is a bit too heavy

UnlikelybutTrue · 28/03/2021 11:41

This is really helpful. I will stick with the 0&3 and get a trial pack to test out the shampoo and conditioner. I am smoothing a few drops of argan oil on after styling . Is the olaplex 7 better than argan oil do you think?
