Hi, I'm sure this has already been done as it seems to be on fb a lot at min, but I'm useless with technology so going to ask here. I'm trying to get my skin in a better place, have been trying to take better care of it last few years tho it seems dehydrated, fine lines creeping in and just dull and meh looking. Im mid thirties with young kids and ive def noticed my skin age these past couple of years! I think I have combo skin, oily t zone and dry cheeks, and only heard about this method recently. So naturally I've decided this will be my cure all holy grail thing... anyway I've learned a lot over the past while by lurking on different threads here, so hoping for more of your wisdom mumsnetters!
I bought a few toners, I did see some suggestions but some were a bit over my budget and these got great reviews, can anyone tell me if they would be good for the 7 skins method? Also splurged out with the corsx essence as had a voucher and again reviews great but it is a heavier serum so prob not best for that method. I currently use..
AM
Wash with naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser
The ordinary HA and revolution 12% vit c serums
Cicaplast cream as a moisturiser
Spf

PM
Oil cleanser from superdrugs b. Range
Naturally radiant cleanser
Skin and me teeth prescription (tret/niacinamide and azelic acid)
Cicaplast or weleda skin food moisturiser
Sometimes a bit of squalane oil before bed.

Does this seem like a decent routine? Would it be best to try and do the 7skins in the morning? Where should I use the corsx serum?
I am running out of the HA and vit c serums so I won't have them to use in the am soon.

Any advice would be great fully received. These days its almost nice to wear a mask as it hides so much of my face, tho does highlight the lines at my eyes. First World problems I know.

Thanks in advance

I have no idea what 7 skins is but your regimen looks good to me. Not keen on The Ordinary however, I’d splash out on a decent vitamin c serum.

Have a look at Dr Shereen Idriss on YouTube. She’s my current fave YT derm.

The first two are no good for the 7 skin method, I'm not familiar with the third but it looks like something fragrant or full of essential oil so I probably wouldn't as you risk irritation with the amount of product you tap in. You want something simple and low frills like the original Hada Labo toner for the seven skin method. While the method works in the temporary, it's not what I'd recommend relying on if you have chronic dehydration issues.

Your routine wouldn't be my choice of products for the most part but if it works for you.

Thanks for the reply botemp. I'm not really sure it works for me thats the problem. I'm trying to figure it out but have quite a tight budget. Is there anything u would recommend for chronic dehydration/general good skin health? Thank you.

Chronic dehydration is usually down to a compromised skin barrier. Fixing this usually involves paring back and eliminating common irritants like fragrance and essential oils. Gentle cleanser, moisturiser with ceramides and other barrier restore ingredients, and SPF for a period of about 6-8 weeks. It can be done quite cheaply with Cerave products and the snail mucin can be used as a hydrating layer as well. How long have you been using tretinoin as this also makes your barrier very fragile?

I've been using skin and me for 3 months tho I had used other high st retinols and retrides on and off for a couple years. My skin just always looks tired and dull (tbf I feel tired and dull too 🤪) Never glowy! And I'm useless at makeup, it never sits nice either. Could be down to my products but I just need to be careful with my budget. I did use the cerave hydrating cleanser till recently but ran out and had that naturally radiant one in the cupboard so thought I'd use it up first. So the cerave moisturiser u would recommend too? Really appreciate the advice. Its an overwhelming minefield out there!

Sorry I'm not sure how to tag people?

You need to use the @ button to tag (but not everyone appreciates it on here 🤷).

What percentage tret at you on? It usually does get a certain glow once your skin is used to it. Other things that give glow are with acids and vitamin C but you need a good formulation (so hard to do on a budget) and your skin barrier needs to be in a good place for both, they don't necessarily always play well with tretinoin either.

Jiggy16 · 27/03/2021 19:57

@botemp sorry, its been one of those looong days! (Thanks for the @ advice!) Think my tret is 0.01. Are there any particular products for vit c or moisturiser u would recommend? I want a good routine, so wouldn't mind saving up a bit for a decent product, but not skin ceuticals kind of prices! I have a voucher for m&s, so could get something from their skin care lines. Its just so hard to know, I always try to buy products with good reviews but then its hard to trust the reviews these days too. Really appreciate your time and advice!

Not sure exactly where to post this ….
Very low about my shocking skin , terrible crop of spots on my nose , chin and forehead , it’s so horrible and makes my already extremely low confidence worse , anyway, I’ve decided to try online prescription service , skinandme for which I have a code
JANEW5E34
Previously I have used Dermatica with quite good results .
I’m pretty clued up about skincare and do follow a routine , after having read reviews and testimonials I thought I’d try this company instead of going back to Dermatica , both get excellent customer reviews.
