Sorry if there's already a thread; I only had a quick scan.

I've never had much of a skincare routine. Water wash and moisturiser is about it for me. I go through phases of cleansers / toners but once they, or the cotton wool pads, run out it takes me an she to restock and I return to water. I've noticed recently though that my skin's looking quite worse for wear. It's very dry and, when I see myself on screen during my meetings I look so old and drawn. I can't seem to easily wear foundations because of the dryness.

I know that I can't turn back time, but are there any products / routines that might help my skin to glow a bit? I don't drink enough water so that's something I need to work on because I know that dehydration makes skin appear worse.

I'm wishing I'd invested a bit more time and money into looking after my skin while it was still young!

Hyaluronic acid serum (for dryness) vitamin c cream, and a good basic moisturiser

Brands that work for me are REN and dr Haushka

I use the REN vitamin C cream, then REN beauty shot (almost pure hyaluronic acid), then on top of that I use DR Haushka rose cream OR la Roche Posay factor 30 anti dark-spot day cream

But it’s been trial and error, and I have dry sensitive skin with some pigmentation. Your skin is probably different

But in my 40s , Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid + sun screen does the trick (I change to factor 50 in summer)

Water and sleep. I have oily skin and have to be careful about heavy face creams.
I don’t understand how people wear sun screen as it leaves me so greasy and I cannot have many layers of cream on my skin.

Thanks for your replies.

I've hovered over the Hyaluronic Acids so many times and waked out without buying it. I think it's the 'acid' part that puts me off, even though I know it's a renowned skin product! I'll have a try of it. And vitamin C.

Water, I know I need to improve. I'll have to make a conscious effort to drink more. Sleep? Makes sense,. I don't get enough of that either! I tend to stay up far too late making the most of my 'quiet time'. I should make a conscious effort to improve that too!

Re the sunscreen, I do have a La Roche Posay facial sunscreen, factor 50, that doesn't feel too greasy. Although I've got dry skin, so maybe that's the difference. I tend to forget to out it on most of the time. Think I need to make a big effort to get into a lot of good habits.
