Rosacea- help me help my Dad!!

Tehmina23 · 25/03/2021 11:25

My Dad is 73 & shaves every day with an electric shaver, he uses Boots pre-shave cologne before shaving then uses Boots No7 Men's vit C spf15 moisturiser.

He's got olive skin & tans easily & hardly has any lines.
But unfortunately he's developed Rosacea on the top of his cheekbones & under his eyes. Basically the skin is just really red.

I'm not sure which products to recommend to improve the redness.
Has anyone got any ideas??

Cream from the doctor such as Rozex or antibiotics but I doubt they would prescribe those if no pustules etc

No just redness

He may need to see a doctor I think. Rosacea can get worse if left to it's own devices. I've had it for over 10 years now and have had to have courses of antibiotics in the past.

The other thing is avoiding his triggers. It can take some time to work out what those triggers are. For me, it is stress and hormonal changes. I didn't think alcohol in moderation made a difference to my skin, but I recently cut out all alcohol and think my skin has improved a lot.

For some people it is other things; dairy, heat, sun, cold etc.

Prescribed cream as pp said.
Avoid exfoliating and use mild products.
Look for products where it specifies its for use with rosacea.

The other thing to ask a doctor for would be Soolantra, if they don't think antibiotics are necessary.

I've just ordered some azelaic acid from Garden of Wisdom to see if it will help me with exactly this

Oh! How come my link didn't work - what didn't I do?

Think you have to do [[ at one end of the link.

Then ]] at the other end.

The only thing that's ever really helped me is Soolantra, think I must have tried absolutely everything else.
