Skinny black trousers to wear with NHS tunic?

Flat fronted or pull on if possible so no bulk under the tunic. We aren't allowed jeggings or jeans but I'd love a similar fit that looks like a smart trouser. Must be stretchy and comfortable!

Skinny/slim leg a must, can't be doing with material flapping around!

Any ideas so appreciated! I start next week and have nothing to wear :(

M&S Mia trousers are great, super stretchy and comfortable. And you should be able to get some easily!

Do they not give you trousers? Usually tunic/trousers need to be a specific material but I guess it depends where you’re working. Scotland have a National uniform so we all wear the same.
Sainsbury’s are usually great for trousers I buy all mine there. Good luck for your job

Thank you! I will double check but I think we can wear our own trousers which I'd prefer as the chance of my body fitting into a standard size work trousers is laughable! I have to have everything tailored etc

I wear m and s ones too for work! I could never find a decent pair in the healthcare catalogues that fitted well and were comfortable. They have been through lots and lots of 60 degree washes fine even if the label says 40.

Turquoisa80 · 23/03/2021 11:44

I've had some nice black stretchy treggings from matalan that look smart.

What sort of style are yours? So many on the M&S web site, too much choice!

I used to wear navy M&S cotton stretch straight legs for work (also NHS, pre-standard uniform) but the colour fades with frequent washes. I would probably opt for a polyester mix now to avoid the fading (there's a pair of Sainsbury tapered leg trousers with stretch that might do).

I'd be careful about buying your own trousers for NHS in my department it is frowned upon.

What do really short ladies do then? Pay for their own alterations?

@wouldloveajob
yes.
From memory when I got my trousers they were unhemmed and came with some wonder web!

Would a dress be a better option?

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 23/03/2021 16:49

The laundry services can alter the trousers. It's against dress code policies where I work to wear our own trousers so I'd check it out before you spend money on something you potentially won't be allowed to wear.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 23/03/2021 16:50

I assumed you are going to be working with patients, as it's a tunic, our admin staff are allowed their own trousers, but have an NHS blouse provided to them.

I bought these for work and find them really comfortable

savvy7 · 23/03/2021 18:08

Uniqlo have pull on stretch trousers, bought them on a Mumsnet recommendation. They are thicker than normal leggings and have pockets.

wouldloveajob · 23/03/2021 20:52

I won't be dealing with patients, it's not a ward based role, although I will need to visit wards at times.

I will check with the recruitment team. I will be pretty gutted not to wear my own trousers :(
