Sore head after wearing hair tied back

I've always had jaw length hair and thanks to lockdown it's now past my shoulders. It's pretty unruly (hence always keeping it shortish) so I've been wearing it in a ponytail/bun most of the time. My head is sore! I know it's the nerve endings. Does anyone have any tips on how to soothe it? I'm giving myself a scalp massage daily!

Would a looser hold in something like a scrunchie help?

Try not to wear it up too much. Mine is the same, really hurting my scalp, so I try and wear it in french plaits or low ponytail, or half up, half down which don’t hurt

I have tonnes of hair and it’s really long since lockdown but never use those elastic band bobbles I use soft scrunchies most are from primark as they do some lovely scrunchies and are much kinder to your hair. I sometimes plait my hair and clip it up but if you’re head is sore a loose/messy bun or low ponytail might be more gentle for you
I can’t wait to get some of this hair hacked off not sure why it’s so thick/long

Head massages, and dont pull your hair back as often.
I have a low ponytail, held with a clip, quite often as it doesnt pull in the same way a high ponytail does (hair has to be tied back at work).
Other things that dont pull as much are plaits or a big double comb.

Ah, thanks. I use the elastic band bobbles as my hair is such a mess it holds them tighter and stops bits from coming loose. I've got a scrunchie somewhere, I'll see if I can find it and if it helps. I've got my hair appointment booked in already, I can't wait!

Some people say the invisibobble coil type bands help, I found they gave me a headache.

Do you need it up? Would a thick Alice band keeping it all out your face be enough?

I had long very thick heavy hair and found I couldn't wear a pony tail so took the sides up with a slide at the top/back of my head and then a lower pony tail. I found it spread the strain if that makes sense and was far more
comfortable.

I've been suffering this too. Have to wear it up as in a clinical NHS role. I had enough a couple of weeks ago and got DD to chop it off into a short bob. She has actually done a decent job.
Pain gone!!
