Double Cleansing

I've been so lazy basic with my skincare, I've realised I really need to get it together and stop thinking a makeup wipe before bed and maybe an eye cream is enough.

From what I've read, I think I should be double cleansing in the evenings. (I'm mid-30s with combo/oily, congested skin.) Could I get recommendations on what two cleansers to use? Nothing that's going to be too expensive.

Boots do a range called your good skin which is nice, there's a couple of gel ones and a balm. Probably worth looking if they're on 3 for 2 as well!
Superdrug do a hot cloth cleanser, think one is called radiant and the other vitamin e
The ordinary have a fairly cheap cleanser too, and the inkey list have an oat cleansing balm
Beauty kitchen is a bit more expensive but their cream cleanser and the gel one are both lovely
When TK maxx is open, that's always good to have a look

Thanks @QueenPaw
You do any hot cloth / balm / cream cleanser first and the gel second, right?

Yeah, and the gel one for in the morning usually
If I'm not wearing makeup or SPF sometimes I just do one cleanse

I agree double cleansing is not really needed if you have clean skin ie only moisturiser.

I sometimes use a face cloth or make up eraser to take off make up and then use a foaming cleanser to clean my face (currently ethique bar).

I double cleanse if I have make up on.

First cleanse is oily or balm or miscellar water (main goal to take off make up or sunscreen), I use Beautypie Japanfusion one
Second cleanse is a water based one to get proper clean. I use cerave foaming cleanser or simple gel cleanser.

I'm the same age as you and the same skin type. And a similar skin care attitude.

What's REALLY made a difference to my skin is Salicylic Acid Scrub Soap - I get it from Amazon.

Moisturiser I still struggle to remember. But I do use The Ordinary caffeine eye bag stuff. Not sure if it helps much to be honest but I'll keep it up.

Following this thread keenly as I struggle to find a moisturiser that doesn't make me feel clammy/greasy. There's a gel type Simple one which is ok.

Oh and I use Micellar to take off make up (just the bog standard garnier one)

And I also have a charcoal Biore one that I use before bed if I'm too lazy to soap my face. But that's too stingy for around my eyes so I don't use that one to remove make up.

@MrsWP Do you use the Salicylic Acid Scrub Soap every night? Or is it too hard to use every day?

After reading lots of useful threads on here, I've just bought a retinol serum to start using a couple nights a week. But don't want to introduce too much at once
