Do you throw away old makeup?

I've never been much of a makeup wearer, I've never worn foundation for instance. But I used to wear it on nights out etc. I still have the makeup that I wore on my wedding day 3 years ago! I haven't worn makeup at all in well over a year now. Do I really need to throw it all away? Do people really throw away makeup if it's not finished by 18 months?

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow that’s interesting, and makes sense of course! My mascara certainly gets a few days to a few weeks between uses!

Thanks for all the responses! I'm going to go through everything at the weekend. I don't mind buying a new mascara but would rather keep my UD palettes. Will have a good look and sniff of everything too!

I’ve kept all my palettes (including UD) for years and so far so good!

I try not to buy any more palettes (she says...fully aware that I’m planning to treat myself for my birthday coming up...) because I have so many.
