Anyone else just like one or two clothing brands?

And how to avoid looking like a walking ad for them?

I know, I manage to mix it up in my own way so don't really look like an advert, but I only like and tolerate around two uk shops.

anyone else like this? I keep looking around for more but nothing ever satisfies me. It makes life easier knowing where you want to shop, I suppose, but I wondered if anyone else is like that?

Yes. For me it’s about reliable fit as much as aesthetics - even prior to the pandemic I mostly shopped online and on preloved sites and sticking to a few brands means less returns and mistakes. This is partly because am quite petite which rules out a lot of shops out for me. I don’t think of it as a problem though, I combine and accessorise stuff in my own way and they’re not brands that are especially recognisable so I don’t think the ‘walking advert’ applies. Buying stuff from past seasons on vinted/eBay etc also mixes it up a bit.

Yes used to be Oasis and Warehouse 😭 The fit and quality were reliable on me, I really don’t like the look of their new websites now Boohoo own them and am dubious the clothes will be the same. Plus I love shopping in actual shops, feeling the material, trying clothes on,the whole experience. I will have to try different shops when they reopen but it is hard to think of any that fill that gap. Not too young, good quality and not too expensive.

Yes, Ive become very reliant on a couple of brands in particular and now prefer to prioritise quality over quantity. I’ve realised I have so many “fast fashion” type clothes that I never wear. I still look stylish I think but I don’t feel the need to follow trends quite so much any more - feeling comfortable but still fashionable is more important to me now. I don’t think it matters so long as you’re not walking around emblazoned with labels - most people won’t recognise a particular brand unless it has a logo anyway. I think as you get older you just know what you like and stick to it a bit more (although if I really like something I would buy no matter what the label).

This is exactly me. All my clothes are from oasis, warehouse and Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams was my only place I could go in walk around and buy clothes from this shops. Now I’m lost not sure now with boohoo. I just ordered few items from Dorothy Perkins via Debenhams in a big sale.

Those of you that like oasis/dp/warehouse - try Coast. I ordered some things from there recently and I’d say the stuff is very similar to that style/quality. And they always seem to have big sales on.

Yes I buy 99% of my clothes from h & m. Its always reliable for me. No idea how not to look like a walking advert for them, I hope I don't!

Which two shops are your favourites OP?

I have a penchant for Joules tops and Fat face and Jaeger bottoms. Fail safe in terms of sizing for my boyish physique.

have been known to buy boys jeans from fat face too

Before the pandemic I would always fall back on Massimo Dutti and & Other Stories which are almost next to each other in my local shopping centre. I'd look round but they are always the best for me. I've just found Sezane on line so might try a bit of an upgrade/ change when it's worth shopping again.

Coast was also bought by boohoo!

Yes. Boden, Hobbs (for work and coats, mostly) and Fat Face. I look dull but well-presented. I don't have time to browse either online or in real shops. So I just look at those three websites and buy what I like when I see it. And, when the shops do reopen, I would rather spend my time in the garden than broaden my sartorial horizons.

I like the quality of Toast (although not always perfect fit) and the style of White Company. Not everyones's cup of tea, but they cuts and colours just right for me. The sales are bearable!

For hiking/weather I like Fjallraven and North face.

It simplifies things to be honest. I used to overthink clothes shopping but this cuts it right down. Every time I buy from somewhere else I seem to get issues in quality and fit.

Thank for sharing your ideas ladies, I'm sorry about Debenhams too - I liked their bedding/home stuff.
