I've gradually got to know what suits me and my size in particular brands and then I buy most things secondhand but nearly new or excellent condition on Depop, Ebay or Vinted.

KirstenBlest · 17/03/2021 19:22

Second hand. Charity shops or ebay.

CommanderBurnham · 17/03/2021 19:30

Etsy for linen

Karmatime · 17/03/2021 19:48

Depending on what I’m buying:
Jigsaw - cashmere, trousers, dresses
The white Company - knitwear, jeans
Sweaty Betty
Hush - jeans, sweatshirts and joggers
Also like the odd thing from Whistles and All Saints leather jackets

BeardyButton · 17/03/2021 19:51

Just bought some stuff from Sezane. V nice! And actually fits me.

Toast too.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/03/2021 19:57

Thought clothing - love their organic and bamboo/tencel environment friendly options
Aspiga
Scamp and Dude
Baukjen

And I always check eBay first when I want something

NutellaEllaElla · 17/03/2021 19:57

Never heard of Sezane or seen anything from Toast. I've heard of Hush but again, never seen it in any of the shops I frequent. I'll have a look.

TOAST, Olive Clothing, Cos, Kin - mostly second hand.

XingMing · 17/03/2021 20:01

Me&Em, again, in the sale. It's flattering, and the way the cut works has been thought through... not just on a perfect teenaged body.

Mrstwiddle · 17/03/2021 20:21

I really want to Love sweaty Betty but 2 of the tops I have ordered have been so uncomfortable. I want to go into a shop and browse properly.

XingMing · 17/03/2021 20:37

Celtic and Huit are both great, but neither is inexpensive. There's a huge gap in recommendations between supermarket prices and those, and the supermarket ranges often get things super-right. At other companies I make very deliberate considered buys. I can buy a supermarket T-shirt any time with groceries, but a pair of Hiut jeans cost the best part of £200. I do like them, and they fit how I want but I only buy (and am fortunate to be able to do so) when I am absolutely convinced there's no high street equivalent that will do.

ragtimeloves · 17/03/2021 20:55

@XingMing. no they are not cheap but in my experience they last at celtic I try and buy in the sale. hit jeans are made in wales. .I therefore feel more confident that workers are not being exploited..I would rather pay more , buy less , support uk manufacturers

RosesAndHellebores · 17/03/2021 21:00

Toast
L.K. Bennett
Caroline Charles

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/03/2021 21:01

Christopher Raeburn, Katharine Hamnett and Palones - all 3 focus on ethical and sustainable clothing, but especially the first 2.

I buy jeans from either Hiut or Blackhorse Lane Ateliers and knitwear from & Daughter.

I also buy classic well-made pieces in sample sales, so for example last week I bought a cream wool (Loro Piano waterproof wool) winter coat from Mackintosh that was handmade for only 25% of its RRP. It's a classic cut that won't date so I will be able to use it for years and years.

Notlostjustexploring · 17/03/2021 21:02

I really like peopletree. Basically all my t shirts are from there, and always pick up a couple of things every year. Reasonable price wise, especially in the same, and my t shirts seem to last forever! Not one of them has bobbled and they each seem to survive for 5+ years. So moderate price, lasts well and ethical.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 17/03/2021 21:10

Baukjen, Reiss, Whistles, And other Stories, All Saints.
