Make up testers in shops as from 12 April- yes or no?

Well?

Anyone in the beauty business know what will happen?
Imagining a nice wander around J Lewis for supplies.

If you want a new lippie or foundation, are testers going to be back on the counters?

If not, how can you physically see the colours?

The only way I can imagine it working is if they are kept behind the counter and the asst, using gloves or gel, swipes a sample on your hand.

How can you be swatched for foundation for example?

I don’t know what’s happening, but would be good if they could give you an actual sample to try at home. I don’t mind buying some tiny pots online for this purpose.
It’s been a gripe of mine for sometime that’s it’s virtually impossible (referring to pre covid) to get a sample of foundation to try. I want to try it on a day when it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t wear well or sits in my pores and see how it works with my own skincare products. What I definitely don’t want to do is sit in the middle of the makeup section on a busy Saturday afternoon having my carefully applied makeup wiped off and another foundation, that may or may not suit me, slapped on.....while taking for other people’s purchases and answering queries at the same time!
I’m in no way moaning about the sales staff, but rather the cosmetic companies who :- 1. Don’t employ enough staff and 2. Charge an exorbitant amount for a product but don’t want to let you try it out properly first.

I agree with you.

However you can get small pots from Clinique, Dior, Lancome and possibly Clarins. Bobbi Brown do returns on foundation bought online, though bit tricky if you want to try 3 shades!

I know B Brown are very reluctant to give foundation samples in store. I once got a small sachet but not in 'my ' colour.

Thing is, trying it on in store light is not great. You can't really see in daylight and I want to see how it wears over the day, or with a couple of applications.

Next sell some mini foundations from different brands, (not Next). They aren't that cheap though! I actually bought one by accident, thinking it would be full size Blush

I've missed testers so much! It was one of my joys to take a wander round Boots or Superdrug and try things out. I don't like buying things without knowing what they look like!
