Skinny fit trousers for wide hips - Any suggestions?

Am a 12 for tops and skirts, but often have to buy 14 for troosers which end up looking unflattering.

Anyone know which high-street shops sell flattering skinny-fit trousers for the pear-shaped lady?

Just been to Zara and they had a nice pair but the waist (which is now higher) was too tight. Maybe I just need to lose some weight!

I'm not sure about skinnys and a size 14...I'm a size 14 too I hasten to add, prob more a 16 at the moment, and have yet to find a pair that didn't make my arse look HUGE. And its pretty big already.

If you are bigger on the bottom,I think you need the width of the leg of the jeans to balance you out. At least I do!

ooo... i watch with interest, must have tried on 60 pairs of jeans in the last few days and have bought 3 pairs, all bootleg...
I want a pair of skinny fit that i can wear with my boots (so they go inside my boots as boots have large furry bit at top that makes you look like you have 2 large donuts wrapped round your knees if you wear them under jeans)....
the skinny fit all seem to come in rediculous low rise that gives my middle the most enormous baby flab muffin top...

Recently bought a pair of straight leg Levi's 570 in a very dark blue/black. There are quite flattering for size 14 and the nearest I think I will get to skinny jeans. Cost £60 in the Levi's shop.

skinnies will make your arse look big. get straight legs. the 570s 4jen says are good for you - they were a bit big for me on bottom, i am fat of tum but small of hip. or gap do htem, they're pretty narrow on thigh though. or these www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true&catalo gId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=74441&parentcategoryrn=74433&productId=438050&langId=-1 topshop]] not in store yet so haven't tried.

balls again

fishie · 07/11/2007 21:15

they could be super wonder jean, can tuck muffin into waistband. or they could be cut for teenagers.

4jen · 07/11/2007 21:17

They are nice fishie, I could do with another pair!

granarybeck · 07/11/2007 21:17

H&M, suck everything very well. I am quite pear shaped and have tried loads of skinny jeans on, these were tons better than others. Haven't actually worn them loads as got some cheap wide leg ones from asda that are so comfy I keep wearnig them

fishie · 07/11/2007 21:22

i do have hopes of those topshop ones.

otherwise is 570s for me but they only had short ones when i tried which looked very silly.

digitalgirl · 07/11/2007 22:17

ooo - thanks fishie, will pop to topshop tomorrow and try those on.

just don't

Haave you tried dorothy perkins. I very curvy although size 12 fits. They are more flattering than other shops as they come up a bit higher on thew waist to eliminate the muffin top. also good prices too.

Top shop B jean is good too, nice and stretchy but holds you all in . I say dont worry about your size as long as you feel comfortable. There are way fatter people than size 14 fgs!!!

PenelopePitstops · 08/11/2007 19:31

wow osmeone else who seems to have my problem!
I cannot find any trousers that look flattering. I admit i have a slight spread across the middle but i really struggle to find good fitting trousers!

I often find next jeans in the right style ok but there sizing is awful!

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 19:35

I don't think you should

missbumpy · 09/11/2007 14:26

I agree a slim/straight leg might look better. I think it's also about what you wear on top. Skinny jeans look better with a longer/baggier top or a tunic or something. Unless you're a stick thin teenager in which case they'll look great with anything! I reckon a nicely cut pair of slim/straight jeans with the right shoes and a longer length/ not too clingy top.

I can't wait to get back into my skinny jeans (sigh).
