Can anyone help with 'colours'?

In an attempt to stop myself looking increasingly like a sad and saggy version of me, I'm keen to work out what colours work best.

I've read all the blogs, looks at the images and done the quizzes, but it just doesn't come out the same / or with colours that I think are right. Obviously they could be right and I could be an idiot.

I need some impartial advice from you wise ones.

Skin: I think cool. Often make up looks too yellow on me, and whilst I do tan and look good in a tan, I can burn. Holding a white piece of paper to my face brings out pinky tones.

Eyes: brown or a dark warm hazel.

Hair: a dark golden blonde colour. Natural highlights. More mouse in winter but not an insipid mouse, it's quite a rich colour.

I am so drawn by the idea of having a small wardrobe of beautifully curated items which instantly make me look amazing, youthful and perky....I just can't work out what season/colour.

I would recommend trying a House of Colour analysis; I've had the Colour and Style assessments and they were good fun. I thought I was 'cool', but I was completely wrong! I do not work for HoC or have any affiliation by the way Smile

I started a thread on Style and Beauty called What Season Are You recently.
Still ongoing.
Worth a look.
A lot of knowledgeable , helpful posters on it.

House Of Colour . Best money you will ever spend and will save you a fortune through your life . No more mistakes .

NotMeNoNo · 16/03/2021 22:31

House of Colour costs as much as 3 or 4 good quality items of clothing (possibly a bit more now due to Covid they are 1-1 sessions). So it only has to save you from four mistakes to be money well spent, that was how I rationalised it. It's not just paintbox colours, they do your neutrals and suggest combinations, hair tint colours, make up etc.

I think you are a Spring from your description

JMAngel1 · 17/03/2021 05:20

Yes, agree, you sound more warm than cool.

MoltonSilver · 17/03/2021 08:14

I read on a previous thread that you can look at the veins on your wrist as a rough guide. If they appear blue you're cool toned. If they appear green you're warm toned.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/03/2021 10:34

Veins, hair, eyes and whether you tan or burn are all generally irrelevant or at least not relevant for everyone. Unless you know (from experience) of some specific colours that suit you or wash you out, in which case you can make an educated guess, it's always going to be best to get an in-person analysis. Some people are very obviously in one "season" but most are not, and it's these nuances that the consultants will know how to identify. You also learn your best colours within your season, which is very helpful beyond warm/cool, bright/muted, etc. Asking online is generally going to be a waste of time and the quizzes are crap too.

If I wrote your post and said, I have mid-dark brown hair, very pale skin that burns, pale green-blue eyes, and blue veins on my wrist, everyone (and the quizzes) would say I am a winter. I thought I would be a winter! I'm not.

Thank you all for your time.

I will consult House of Colour I think, sounds like a good investment.
