Whilst on an echibition stand in London yesterday, I noticed women in the workplace fall into 3 catergories:

  1. The darn trendy. Bang on trend, with style and colurs - looking good
  1. The playing it safe - nice trouser/skirt suits
  1. The 'I have no clue' brigade.

Blimey the women who I saw in catergory 3. Cream long flowy skirt with anchors on it and a navy blue double breasted jacket with brass buttons. Ski pants with a v neck jumper and pearls and capri pants worn with birkenstock sandals and a suede gillet.

I sort of see what you mean but I work in the civil service and the first category just doesn't exist there. And category 2 is quite small.

Except for me of course

I am

  1. The 'I have clue but am too tired to be bothered'
Kewcumber · 07/11/2007 16:01

I miss my naval look.... ah for the old days when I was in category 3.

Nang - I've worked with some real funky dressers in the civil service. Perhaps things have changed over the years.

DP (an academic) is working with architects at the moment. He says in meetings he can immediately tell an academic from an architect by their clothes. Academic - clueless; architect - stylish and wearing clothes made and bought this century

DrN your category 3 sounds like my MIL! What industry is this?

nangnangnang · 07/11/2007 16:05

You've obviously been in groovier departments than me - I can imagine culture media and sport throwing up some interesting outfits.
