Please could you share a pic of your side view / setting and say whether you can fit your wedding ring flush to it?

For myself, should have said! I like the idea of a solitaire but the ones I see don't look like another ring could slot in next to it

Mine is on quite a high mount so my wedding band sits very happily alongside

WellJuhnelle · 13/03/2021 19:19

Mine has a very low setting so wouldn’t be able to fit a wedding ring flush to it - I had a wishbone shaped wedding ring made to fit around it instead!

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 13/03/2021 19:20

Does that help? Mine fits well.

Mine is a high setting so my wedding ring fits right against the band of the engagement ring. My diamond is small which means the height isn't annoying.

Mine is called a semi rubover setting and it fits neatly next to my wedding ring.
If you want one with prongs/claws you need one that is described as wed-fit or underwire. (Not to be confused with a bra!Grin)

Simple Tiffany style setting but relatively high. This means the wedding ring sits nicely next to it. Main stone is 0.8ct and band is 2mm wide

These are mine. We didn’t buy any of our rings. The reason being my 3 rings are all heirlooms from my family (wedding ring was my great nans, eternity ring was my nans and engagement ring was my mums). I was more than happy to have all 3.
Obviously they were never meant to all be worn together like this as they originally belonged to 3 different people, but I love how they look together.

Mine is very similar to exhausteddog's ring, but with a square cut diamond. Wedding ring sits flush.

CrystalMaisie · 13/03/2021 19:44

I had that concern. The jewellers (Boodles) said no problem, they squash the circle bit underneath, the bit of the setting that sits on your finger, so the wedding ring could sit flush. It works really well. I’d forgotten all about it until you said (26 years ago). Can’t get it off my finger to photograph sorry.

Bollingerknickers · 13/03/2021 22:21

Side view of mine, it fits well

Thank you - looks like a high setting is key!

Here's mine.

If you are looking for a very high setting look for a "cathedral setting"

exhausteddog · 13/03/2021 22:33

It doesn't have to be all that high (mine really isnt) the setting just has to taper underneath. A lot of styles do, or if it doesnt, you could ask if it can be made to fit.

Lonecatwithkitten · 13/03/2021 22:37

As @exhausteddog says does need to be high just designed right. My wedding ring will slot beneath my engagement ring.

JaceLancs · 13/03/2021 22:38

High setting and tapered in around the stone is best for a snug fit

CorpusCallosum · 13/03/2021 22:41

Here's mine, the wedding band has a twist which creates a very slight kink and the engagement ring snuggles in nicely 🥰

@happymummy12345 lots of gorgeous rings on here but yours are especially so ❤️

OneEpisode · 13/03/2021 22:46

A high setting looks pretty but it is more likely to for instance scratch your beloved if you walk beside each other and swing arms. Better if you have good spacial awareness...

MakeTeaNotWar · 13/03/2021 22:50

My engagement ring has a sort of teeny slope so that the other rings are snug against it. Might be what a PP meant by tapered

That picture was an old picture I took quickly and wasn't great. Here are some I hope are better to show the 3 together. As I said I think they go together very well even though they were never all meant to be worn together. I love them.

Obviously they could do with a clean. (And please no rude nail comments like I've had on here in the past. I know most people would say they're way too long but I love them long and that's all that matters. And obviously they are very grown out as were done on the 23rd December, so are currently 10 and a half weeks old).

happymummy I love your nails!

SilverGlassHare · 14/03/2021 08:04

0.7 ct diamond, 2mm bands on both rings. My wedding ring fits just under the diamond.

Mine has a twist in it so my wedding ring has been made to fit by the same jeweller that made my engagement ring. A normal wedding band just wouldn't have worked.

WeatherwaxLives · 14/03/2021 08:35

You can get shaped wedding bands to fit against engagement rings that are flat. My engagement ring (not a solitaire) has a gallery setting that is much fatter where the stones are and I've tried on off the peg wedding bands that fit perfectly - I'd imagine a solitaire is even easier to match. Just in case you fall in love with a solitaire that wouldn't match a flat/straight band!

I was also surprised how nice the shaped bands looked on their own - I expected them to look a bit odd without the engagement ring, but they really didn't!
