Looking for a hairdryer that will dry my hair quickly

Can anyone recommend a hairdryer that saves drying time? I have long, thick hair that I dry in sections, but it takes a while to do and I hate it! I am tempted by the Dyson but does it really save drying time? It would be an expensive mistake if not!

Dyson for me - I love it - bought from Boots when they had a points deal on it

Previously I had a Parlux - would not have again as guarantee period was poor and the customer service awful.

I bought a ghd one recently and love it - it’s cut my drying time massively and leaves hair lovely and smooth

LongHairDontCare38 · 13/03/2021 19:11

Going against the grain. I have really long thick hair & after using a microfibre towel I use a babyliss air styler. Takes me 20 mins to do my whole head & comes out like this

I'd love a dyson but can't pay that for a hairdryer.

I have just bought a Toni and Guy and it's the best dryer I have ever had.

Moonstone1234 · 13/03/2021 19:38

I have a Dyson. Have shoulder length straight hair. It’s nice looking and I got £50 of Boots Points but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s ok but nothing special.

You can buy from QVC to try it out but do remember you will have to pay return postage with the hairdryer having to be insured.

peanutbutterjimjams · 13/03/2021 19:55

Parlux for me too! I've had it a decade so it probably works out cheaper than replacing midrange ones every few years.
Dried my long thick hair really quickly.

Bourbonbiccy · 13/03/2021 20:03

I have a dyson and then bought the air wrap as well.

It dries my hair quickly and it does seem dry it a bit straighter with less frizz.

StillMedusa · 13/03/2021 23:44

I have long thick hair.. so wrap with a micreofibre towel for ten mins then blast with dyson on lowest heat. Much quicker than my 'hotter than lava' old hairdryer and definitely better for my hair.

I love my Dyson!

Onestep2021 · 13/03/2021 23:47

Parlux all the way

Darklightspark · 14/03/2021 00:01

I have a Parlux, it gets very hot, I don’t get the love for them - I didn’t notice any difference when I upgraded from my cheaper one - I’m going to treat myself to a Dyson this summer.

violetbunny · 14/03/2021 06:44

I have a Dyson, which replaced my Parlux ionic. It is far superior. I have coarse, thick hair so it makes a real difference to drying time. It also doesn't get nearly as hot, which is a godsend when tying to blowdry my hair in summer.

QuidditchQueen · 14/03/2021 07:16

On the office returning to work this week we were ooohing about a colleague’s shiny smooth (long) hair - she told us it was her new Dyson wot did it !!

QuidditchQueen · 14/03/2021 07:17

'hotter than lava‘

I’ve got a Dyson dryer and the air wrap and I just can’t get on with them. I think they make my hair frizzier and feel dryer, I can’t get the smooth styled look that I get from my Parlux, but I will try again after all of the responses on here. I do love the smoothing brush attachment on the air wrap, but my hair still feels very sort of ‘crispy dry’ after I use it, hard to explain, maybe I overdo it! It’s a shame because I love my Dyson vacuums and fans.

GenericDietCola · 14/03/2021 08:00

I’m definitely going to get a microfibre wrap. Seems like there is a lot of love for Parlux and Dyson!

I was put off the Dyson btw as my hairdresser has one and it stops working part way through drying my (long, fine but loads of it) hair every time. He goes back to the parlux when he sees me now!

rosesarered321 · 14/03/2021 15:36

Dyson hair dryer for me, I'm really pleased with it.
Buy it from dyson direct and you can try it for 30 days, I think, and return it if you don't like it. Full refund is given, no postage charged.

ElderMillennial · 14/03/2021 15:38

QVC do a money back guarantee as well and possibly payment by instalments.

Sansaplans · 14/03/2021 15:41

GHD Air. I was sceptical that a hairdryer wouldn't make much difference, but my hair is super thick and long, usually I'd have it cut and thinned out, but havent been able to and it was becoming a nightmare- so knotty and took ages to dry. I found a discount code and went for it, and I absolutely love it. I'd say it's cut drying time by half, and my hair is in much better condition. It's pretty noisy but doesn't matter too much to me, I would recommend to anyone. I have used a Dyson one a fair few times and wasn't too fussed tbh.

Wehaveanunderstanding · 14/03/2021 15:43

No idea if it's as good as a professional one or not but I bought a Philips Ionic Thermal Protect 2200W off Amazon and it's absolutely brilliant!

il0vew1ne · 15/03/2021 19:27

Parlux is the best. I had the Dustin one but it fried my hair

Blueskyredcloud · 18/03/2021 11:50

So just treated myself to a Dyson - the difference between the Dyson and my old Parlux is that your hair does not move whilst it's drying - obviously if your hair is prone to frizz this will help enormously - don't think the drying times were significantly different though.

HermioneGrangersHair · 18/03/2021 12:03

Following with interest - anyone recommend a specific model for the parlux ?

Shenadoah · 18/03/2021 14:44

Parlux. Life changing.

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/03/2021 17:44

My dyson hairdryer is my biggest pet peeve and largest let down. It looks nice and I will say it's very quiet but it doesn't outperform the dryer it replaced tbh (babyliss 3Q, about £50 3 years ago). Mainly though it leaves my hair flat and tangles it up no end so I have to brush it out constantly and it iust breaks my hair. The only way I've found to mitigate that is to turn the power and heat down and use the nozzle, but then it takes longer to dry the hair than my old dryer does so I'm no better off.

I have long fine (but a lot of it) virgin hair in pretty good condition, if that makes any difference to matters. I keep meaning to sell it but it languished under the bed instead as I've got the old one back out .
