Hair dye that won't make my eyes water!

I used to henna my hair, but seem to find it impossible to spend 3 or 4 hours with mud on my head, now that I have 2 babies. I dyed it the other day using a Nice and Easy permanent dye, the colour was fine, but it kind of burnt my scalp and made my eyes water. Can anyone recommend a dye which is a bit more natural (must cover greys)

as a hairdresser who home dyes her own hair it happens with all hair dye really....not too sure about the eyes watering though, may just have been very high in ammonia....sorry there's no better advise...though i do use garnier colour, it covers my few greys that i'm trying to hide, and i didn't get any eye watering....
