Trainers/shoes like clouds!

Hello
I work in an sen school and regularly get my feet trampelled on. Im on my feet all day. I am very overweight (I’m working on it!). By the end of every day my feet and legs are in agony. I’ve searched high and low for practical but stylish but most importantly comfortable shoes that will cushion the shock of my feet and lower legs. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I don’t know if they’re stylish enough for you, but I have sketchers go run (I don’t run in them though) fabric trainers. Navy (white soles) and black (with black soles).

They are incredibly comfortable and I love them. I can walk miles and miles in them, stay on my feet all day etc. And that is absolutely impossible with any other pair of shoes that I own as I have dreadful bunions.

Chocolateteabag · 10/03/2021 19:41

Hoka?

They are £££ but they are amazingly comfortable to run in. If mine weren't so muddy, I'd be bouncing along in them all day too

I know alot of nurses wear them as work shoes

Naz2009 · 10/03/2021 19:43

I second sketchers go run. Wore them several years. I would size down. I myself find them to be large Then last year DH gifted me a pair of Asics trainers. They don't look as smart as sketchers. But they are extremely comfortable.

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 10/03/2021 19:46

I like Fitflop trainers a lot. Very comfy. They aren't as frumpy as people make out tbh. They actually have some perfectly nice shoes, which have the added massive benefit of not fucking my feet!

PrettyGuyforaWhiteFly · 10/03/2021 19:46

Sketchers FTW!

I'm very very overweight and I can stay on my feet all day.

You can also buy the Skechers socks that go inside perfectly.

Helpmyhair2019 · 10/03/2021 19:56

Thank you! I’m always overwhelmed when looking at Skechers and fit flop as they have so many different types but will look at your recommendations. Thank you!

The Hokas are brilliant, I have the Clifton and they are so comfortable. Spendy but were recommended by a physio.

I know what you mean. I’m very overweight, and as a teacher I’m on my feet all day. Sketchers are good, but be wary of the thicker soles, as they can collapse under a lot of weight and that doesn’t look good.
I like Doctor Martens. They are expensive, and they take time to break in, but they last!

WellTidy · 10/03/2021 20:02

My sketchers go run are made out of a breathable fabric, which may not be good for you if you get trampled on (my DS has SN so I know what that’s like). You may want something that would absorb the trample and crush your feet less.

Morethanjustanurse · 10/03/2021 20:04

Skechers. Have a pair for every eventuality. Go walks for 12-14hour shifts, another pair for walking home and then the Go Runs (i think ultra) for running. Love them.
Size down.

Helpmyhair2019 · 10/03/2021 20:25

Unfortunately the hoka ones are over budget. They look fab tho!
Whilst i try and loose weight I’m
Wearing dresses as trousers just don’t fit me. This adds to the problem as trainers can sometimes not look right with tights and a dress. I adore dr martens but not sure I can break through the wearing in pain barrier!

DM do a ‘wonder balsam’ which really helps with the wearing in. I smother it on the heels area every evening for a couple of weeks on a new pair of boots.

WhiskyWhiskersdottir · 11/03/2021 06:24

Allbirda

WhiskyWhiskersdottir · 11/03/2021 06:25

*Allbirds

redcandlelight · 11/03/2021 06:31

birkenstock?
they also make shoes

or hiking shoes (decathlon have decent not pricey ones)?

I didn't get on with skechers, they were comfortable for the first few min and then the sole became rock hard.

RampantIvy · 11/03/2021 07:45

I know a ,lt of mumsnetters think Sketchers are frumpy, but my God, they are the most comfortable footwear I have ever worn. They really are like walking on cushions.

BigButtons · 11/03/2021 08:31

Skechers for sure

hollieberrie · 11/03/2021 09:20

Allbirds for me too

AlPacino · 11/03/2021 09:24

Nike Internationalists are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, just like wearing clouds. They never leave my feet!

dividedwefall · 11/03/2021 09:45

I have the Hogan Interactive 3 and they are the most comfortable trainers I've ever had, with cheapish memory foam Fila trainers a very close second. Both like walking on clouds.

Worknoplay · 11/03/2021 09:51

I'd also say fitflop, something like this: www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/rally-airyknit-trainers-p-DR4#001. The top part is completely elasticated so you don't get blisters or tightness anywhere, they just spread to mold the feet. The sole is flexible and very bouncy. I'm wearing a previous version of these shoes, which I've had for over two years and still looking ok. Plus, they look ok with a skirt or a dress.

Worknoplay · 11/03/2021 09:53

These are actually the ones that I am wearing and they have better reviews than the pair I linked to above: www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/f-sporty-uberknit-trainers-p-L39#090
