Do you like/dislike botox?

I was just wondering what other people's opinion of botox was. I used to get it for a few years and came to really not like it despite where I got it done. Even a little bit seemed to make my face look strange especially my forehead and seemed to make my undereye look worse. However I know some people get it and really like it and I would never attack anyone for getting it.

Is botox for you or do you not like it?

I love it! Not had it properly for 3 years (was a model for someone training and ended up looking a bit Bell's palsy) about 2 years ago. 😂🤦‍♀️
When done professionally I just looked refreshed and well, I also got compliments from people who didn't know.
I can't wait till I can get it done again, I've saved all my birthday and Christmas lock down money just for Botox.

RefuseTheLies · 10/03/2021 00:31

Love it. Can't wait to get it again. I look rested and well and happy when I've had it and I can't scowl at everyone for no reason.

grapefruitish · 10/03/2021 04:00

Love it! I've not been able to have it for nearly three years because of pregnancy, breastfeeding & lockdown but I can't wait for a tiny shot! I feel having it before rested my lines and they are only just showing again now (I'm almost 45). I feel like I'll have a jab just once a year from now on to keep it natural. I really dislike when people have so much their forehead looks like a dome but then I also dislike the done lip look too.

Eteri · 10/03/2021 04:05

Botox is great, it's fillers that fuck up your face. However, botox did absolutely nothing for my mum (though neither did a full face lift) so you're definitely not alone.

tropicalwaterdiver · 10/03/2021 04:49

OP, wanted to ask if you have tried BOTOX with different doctors? From my experience it's very important to find a "right" doctor or nurse who have good experience and who understand your aestethic needs.
I had both horrible BOTOX and amazing BOTOX and usually you need to try it with more than 1 practitioner to find what works for you.

blisstwins · 10/03/2021 05:21

I am in my early 50s and started getting it about 4 years ago. I always got a very small amount and over the years have narrowed it to my 11s, bunny line, and also a little near my mouth to help the outer corners of my lips not be pulled downward. I saw a few different doctors and have one I love. I never had crow's feet done because I think I should have them at my age and I don't do my forehead anymore because it does always affect the height of my brow, etc. and I think it makes me look a little different. The softening even small strategic amounts give is brilliant and I LOVE it.

blisstwins · 10/03/2021 05:23

Btw, I get fillers too. But I get 1 syringe for lips, marionette lines, undereye, and nasal-labial folds. So the effect is subtle and softening, not really filled.

icelollycraving · 10/03/2021 05:30

I have had it twice. I loved the first time, looked fresher and perky. The second time instead of feeling lifted I felt pressure, headaches and the effect was not as good.

ReleaseTheCracken · 10/03/2021 05:30

I like it but it gives me a headache and doesn't last long enough.

youmakemydreamscometrue · 10/03/2021 05:32

I love it. I've been having it for around 2 years and love the look it gives. I just look less severe and fresher with it. I have a really good skincare regimen but nothing gives the same results as Botox.
Mine is almost completely worn off thanks to timings of lockdowns so I'm champing at the bit to get back and get it done again.

WeatherwaxLives · 10/03/2021 05:50

I really want to try it - I'm incredibly short sighted and 'frown' all the time so have 11s and look miserable all the time. I'm intrigued at PP that has it to stop the corners of the mouth pulling down, I look so unhappy because of mine (I've suffered depression for years and have been absolutely miserable, I think my face has 'set' like it Sad ) the only thing is I'm on medication that reduces my immune system - I don't know if I'm allowed it. But biggest thing is I don't know how to choose a good place to have it done!

snoopy8 · 10/03/2021 06:07

I have botox and it definitely gets rid of my frown lines which is great! It does however make my brows slightly lower (and they're quite heavy to begin with) so that's not ideal. But other things also impact that such as I'm a terrible sleeper so always tired. I may consider eyelid surgery in future to open my eyes up a bit.

youmakemydreamscometrue · 10/03/2021 09:55

@WeatherwaxLives I can't comment on suitability but if you ask your dr or pharmacist they should be able to tell you if it would cause any adverse effects.

Finding the right practitioner can be tricky. I found both of mine by word of mouth then a bit of research. I've seen lots of posts on here asking for recommendations as it's anonymous.

Delatron · 10/03/2021 11:07

I have mixed feelings. I think I’m still trying to find an amazing doctor.
I’m quite sensitive to it so first time was a bit heavy and had brow droop which made me look tired.

Left it about a year and went to a different doctor. Just 11s. It was better but I always feel a bit ‘sneery’ for the first month and it makes me scrunch my eyes up as I can’t frown.

I don’t love the effect around the eyes. I have seen in friends that when you get then crows feet done it creates more wrinkles under the eye which looks worse. So I’m learning to like my crows feet and be grateful the wrinkles are there, where they should be.

I have had a bit of filler under the eye and that (when settled) made me look less tired and reversed the hollow look under my eyes.

I think the trick is not to have too much Botox and it’s really not the be all and end all. I don’t think it made me look younger. I think I’ll do it again with 6 months gaps and just in frown lines. I’m really frowny though. My mum for example, at 70 doesn’t have frown lines so Botox would be no good for her.

Yellow85 · 10/03/2021 11:13

I like it. But I expected to love it. I have one overactive muscle above one brown and Botox doesn’t ever seem to level my brows out. I think it’s need ALOT of units to do that. So I always still look a bit wonky 😂

seensome · 10/03/2021 11:22

I love it, it's been a year since I had it so will definitely have it again when I can, makes me look refreshed. I also like lip fillers only subtly, brings out the Cupid's bow and I find lipstick application looks better on me after a bit of filler, it bloody hurts though the filler not the Botox.

BehindMyEyes · 10/03/2021 12:05

It's all to do with the doctor . There is no way I would use someone who has had a 4 hour training course . I use a dermatologist . My doctor is very conservative in his application and I see him approx every 5 months . I love the effect . He also uses it to lift my hooded eyes somewhat as there is no way I would have eyelid surgery .

Yellow85 · 10/03/2021 12:10

I actually go to my dentist for Botox! I kinda figured who studied facial neves and structure as much as a dentist?! Too many ‘beauty therapists’ doing 2 days courses these days.

MadisonMontgomery · 10/03/2021 12:27

I love botox! Definitely go somewhere else if you aren’t happy with it, mine just smoothes out any lines & has stopped me getting more - I see it more as a preventative than a cure.

Luckystar1 · 10/03/2021 12:32

Another who loves it!

hippychick11 · 10/03/2021 14:12

@Yellow85 great idea. I definitely think I will try a dentist. My dentist actually does it and said that they know the bones of the face and I trust her so it's a bonusGrin

I'm getting it when salons are open. I've just met a client who looks amazing - healthy not frozen at all - who has just confessed to forehead and eye crease Botox. I was very sceptical but sign me up she looks wonderful!!!

camsie · 10/03/2021 19:10

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good practitioner in the Sussex area?

I've had it once and didn't love it but would quite like to try again!

SeanMean · 22/02/2022 09:12

Also looking for a practitioner in the Sussex area if anyone could recommend a good one.

Thanks!
