How to grow out a razor cut - it's a mess

Hi I'm trying to grow out a short razor cut and I'm despairing at how bitty messy and like a dry bush it is. I have fine thick wavy curly hair and at the beginning of October I went to a new hairdresser who was recommended to me as being good with curly hair. She gave me a short bitty razor cut - I let her because I thought he knew what she was. I soon realised it was quite uneven in lengths and thickness and decided I'd had enough of bad haircuts and was going to take a break from hairdressers -and lockdown began again as well so there's no chance of doing near a hairdresser anyway.

Five months in and it's grown to just past collar length and is a bushy dry uneven mess that won't go one way or the other. I've resorted to sticking it in a little ponytail- or wearing at hat. It feels dry and I condition it at every wash and use a shampoo for sensitive scalp

Like I said I'm growing it, so what are my options when hairdressers reopen - I don't want it short and I don't want anyone making it even worse than it is, so has anyone got any advice on what I can do with it?

I have been there! Omg!

Roll with the ponytail as much as possible to regrow as much as possible so that your new hairdresser has something to work with.

I would also recommend doing one of the home Brazilian keratin treatments (there are many experts on here!) to help out the frizz. Apply it with a colouring brush, blast dry and straighten.

Also maybe try conditioner only washing.

Layers in general are coming back though, so I’d start trying to straighten it back and down as it grows.

Thanks I'll have a great st some of these. I thought I'd try and aim for shoulder length then get some long layers cut into it

Ps sorry for the typos in my message as I was typing on my phone😀
