Woman's, classic, timeless watch

Remmy123 · 07/03/2021 11:24

I was made redundant last year and got a package. I never spend anything on myself but id really like to buy a nice timeless, classic watch (silver)

I looked at the woman's Tag which is nice.

Budget of 1k max

Any recommendations - no idea of these things!

Thanks

My favourite watches are Longines.. the ones with the diamonds are beautiful.
Cartier are timeless

peachypetite · 08/03/2021 18:03

Longines

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 08/03/2021 21:23

Omega Constellation. Try watchfinder.com for high quality preowned watches.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/03/2021 21:53

I'd get something without a battery. DH's Longines costs a fortune to get the battery replaced.

GinnieHempstock · 08/03/2021 21:57

I've got a Tag Heuer carrera. Had it about 10 years and still love it. It will be more than £1k though.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 08/03/2021 22:07

I always think a Cartier Tank is a classic but may be outside your budget.
Baume & Mercier also v nice.

hopeishere · 08/03/2021 22:11

I have a Cartier one. But I think it was more than £1k.

peachypetite · 08/03/2021 22:14

OP has given her budget so why are people suggesting Cartier tank?

BeaLola · 08/03/2021 22:17

I have a Tag Huer Aquaracer - blue face medium size dial which I have had for about 2 years - I love it .

willibald · 08/03/2021 22:17

I have a Cartier tank but yes, even used, it's over £1k

Longines

AnotheChinHair · 09/03/2021 13:50

I have a bloody expensive watch and it's £250 every time I need to change the battery. Don't do it.

AnotheChinHair · 09/03/2021 13:51

Raymond Weil, by the way

Brogues · 09/03/2021 19:01

Raymond Weil. Timeless. I like this one www.chisholmhunter.co.uk/raymond-weil-freelancer-ladies-watch-5634-stp-97081.html

Annebronte · 09/03/2021 19:06

Raymond Weil. Timeless and elegant.

Oddbutnotodd · 09/03/2021 21:27

I have 2 Longines watches. Only costs £12.50 to change the battery.

23PissOffAvenueWF · 10/03/2021 06:55

Why are people coming on to tell the OP what sort of over £1K watch they have?

Is she meant to be interested in what some nameless, faceless random owns, that’s outside her budget?

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 10/03/2021 10:14

The cost for changing the battery on DH's Longines watch, isn't the battery itself, it's getting the watch resealed so that it stays water resistant. The watch has to be sent off to the workshop because jewellers rarely work on site now and any warranty is only valid of you go to approved jewellers.
It's something to be aware of if you are buying an expensive watch, that it's just not the cost of buying but having the money to maintain it.

Stumpedasatree · 10/03/2021 10:20

I have a Tissot and love it, but alot cheaper than 1k.

AKAanothername · 10/03/2021 10:28

I'd recommend an Ebel watch, if you go for one of the simpler designs like the wave or miniwave it should be within your price bracket. I had one for years and loved it.

There are still some local jewellers that are able to change a battery and reseal for water resistance, I use one for my Cartier, proper old school watch repair shop.

AndeanMountainCat · 10/03/2021 10:39

Surely if it was “timeless” it would just be a bracelet? 🤔

(Sorry.)

windmill26 · 10/03/2021 22:13

Baume et Mercier steel strap Classima (men's and women's) or Clifton Club (men's).
I prefer men's watches on women as I like bigger dials.

shadesofwinter · 10/03/2021 23:01

I have a Longines watch, which I've had for 2 years and not had to spend anything on yet. It's beautiful.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 11/03/2021 00:08

I loved my Longines but, when it started losing time, Longines were absolutely useless. Their CS is nowhere near the standard of the big names.

But obviously most watches don't go wrong so you may be happy to take the risk. It was a lovely watch- other than the minor issue of not telling the time Wink
