Is there a solution to little toe sticking out of sandals?

Every single pair of heeled or wedge sandals I own have the problem of my little toe escaping out the side.
I've tried wide fit sandals, avoid anything too strappy or dainty but the toe always finds its way out the side. Like in the photos attached.
I've googled and can't find a marvellous contraption that might resolve this and am yet to attempt strapping it to the next toe, which I'm doubtful will actually work.

Has anyone found any solution to this?

Googling indicates its a common problem. One lady got her cobbler to insert an extra panel into a much loved pair of hers (pic attatched) but I can't find a proper local cobbler and doubt Timpsons would attempt it.

Could you glue a little panel in?

NewjobOldme · 06/03/2021 23:26

I have this problem. I've given up on strappy sandals. I have short toes. My small toe is never in the right place.

Elouera · 06/03/2021 23:30

Looking at the stilettos in your pics which are incredibly high and have no proper strap to support the whole front foot, they are obviously badly made shoes! Or too narrow for the wearer.

I have incredibly wide feet. Think of a hobbit foot minus the hair! Surely if your little toe sticks out when trying them on, the shoe is either badly made or too narrow and not worth buying! Yes, check whether a cobbler can amend your current shoes, but don't buy ones in the 1st place if your little toe sticks out!

DitchedBitch · 06/03/2021 23:39

Well no. My sandals may have gaps but are not as high or dainty strap wise as in the pictures.
When I try them on and walk up and down the shop/my hallway for a few minutes my toe seems fine. But once I actually wear them out , out pops my pinky as if to say "haha got you again".

It's a problem I've had for years but I recently found a box of shoes in the attic I've not worn for years then remembered why once I started putting them on.

I'm sick of living in toe posts and flats all summer. I'm only 5ft 1 and like to add an inch or 2 if getting dressed up.

I have so many beautiful summer outfits I never wear because I can't find or the heeled/wedge sandals to match or the ones I bought to match them produce this toe issue.

I'm so pissed off with my go to flats and bulky flatforms. I really want to find a solution if there is one.

I do like the panel idea but would need to do that to everybpair.
Maybe I should just chop off my little toe Grin

I don’t own any shoes which have a gap near my little toe, for this reason

All my evening shoes and sandals have peep toes but solid sides

minipie · 06/03/2021 23:43

Aka Peep toe slingbacks

DitchedBitch · 06/03/2021 23:44

Yes peep toe would be a good solution. I've just ordered a pair of peephole wedges actually.

My thought would be too narrow.

JMAngel1 · 07/03/2021 09:31

what about using a clear plaster to strap your little toe to the next toe so it can't escape?

ShrimpSymphony · 07/03/2021 14:58

I use a clear plaster to tape my little toe to the one next to it

Mellonsprite · 07/03/2021 16:58

The Julie Ann Moore shoes are far too small - her toes are over the edge!
I think you need to consider the placement of straps to make sure they are in the right place or wide enough to hold your little toe in, and the sole of the sandal isn’t too narrow for you.

RJnomore1 · 07/03/2021 17:00

I remember people were having their little toes removed at one point to avoid this m

At least according to one of the lurid mags I read in the 90s

Seems a bit drastic really

I always have this problem! But, I don't wear heels, I have it with any strappy sandals - flats / platform sole etc... it's so annoying as I miss out in so many lovely pairs. My pinky toe is just short 😩

could you link, I'm not seeing that?

BigDayToday · 07/06/2022 19:46

If your toe doesn't stay in the shoe then the shoe obviously isn't suitable. The problem is that there are so few 'foot shaped' shoes out there we've come to see 'shoe shaped' feet as the ideal!

BigDayToday · 07/06/2022 19:48

Those pictures are all of too-narrow shoes with feet wedged into them - they looks so squashed. I don't blame the little toe for making an escape!

It’s the design of the shoe surely. They are designed with the thin straps in the wrong place for a foot. Much thicker straps would solve the problem, so essentially a different design shoe

I have this with a pair of flat summer sandals because I bought a size a bit too big. So I've stuck a shoe cushion thing (Amazon) to the back strap so my foot is pushed forward stopping my toe my escaping.

Stravaig · 09/06/2022 17:32

Oh, all those poor wee toes! Even the toe guard 'solution' has horribly squished them. Please folks, wear sandals that are shaped to have room for all your toes within the shoe!!
